2019 Limited 45K Limited. To date it's been a great vehicle. We love it. Tomorrow taking long road trip. Yesterday go out in the morning to change the oil and I see anti freeze on the floor. very small puddle. I see anti freeze on the frame between the engine and radiator and a few drops forming on the frame edge. My reservoir is almost empty. A hose looks wet but I cant tell. Cant see anything actively leaking. Moved the hoses around to get something going. Nothing. Take it to the dealer. They pressurize twice. Keep it overnight pressurized. Run it to temp. Put it on a lift. No leaks anywhere. No evidence at all of water pump or any hose connection leaking. Radiator dry. Just brought it home. Still dry as a bone. In 4 years I have never open the cap. The level has always stayed right where it should be.

2 questions. What could have happened? and would you take this on a 2K mile trip?

Seems like a minor leak, perhaps from a leaky o-ring or fitting. I think it would be ok, but bring some antifreeze just in case. What were temps? Cold can cause seals to leak. If you have time, you can run some coolant dye through the engine to see if that helps. Common leak areas are the t-fitting, degas bottle, and turbo coolant lines.

Id take it to a different dealer (hopefully you have more than 1 in your radius) They prolly had someone incompetent/new looking at it because its CLEARLY leaking somewhere.

I had two separate coolant leaks at different times. Multiple trips to the Ford dealer each time who insisted there was no leak.

First leak was the degas bottle fitting on the bottom of the reservoir.

Second leak was the water pump, which only leaked with the engine running and warmed-up.

I would not take the vehicle on a 2,000 mile trip - especially with my family in it.

Exactly what happened to mine. It was a bad water pump which would only leak when pressurized. I wouldn't see any evidence on my driveway and thought the dealer was BSing me. Turns out when they cracked the engine to do the pump, they asked if I wanted to do the phasers (parts cost only since the water pump was already underway) and I agreed. Then a few months later the phasers failed and they had to recrack the engine and replace them (they did that 3 times) and it was N/C.

I had a very similar problem with my F-150, I’d find anti-freeze under the engine and would need to keep topping it off. Two trips to the local Ford dealer, and a couple to the local auto shop, could find the leak. They both did the same thing; they would pressurize the system and seal up the leaky O-ring.
I finally found it myself by cleaning the engine and drying it throughly, the put paper towels around the various hoses and junctions, drove it around for an hour and easly discovered the location Of the leak. It will always be an O-Ring if they can find it when pressure testing.

Where was your failure point located? I’ve been to two separate dealerships and both have conducted pressure tests. Im slowly losing coolant, I can see the level in the degas bottle dropping overtime. The dealership said it was due to evaporation…. Im sorry but the coolant system is a closed pressurized system that shouldn’t have evaporation issues.

Mine leaked and ended up being the water pump. All I could see was a little bit of corrosion on one of the pump bolt heads.
