Hey all,

I found a set of running boards to replace the ones that were ripped off my 08 EL. Of course they were $40 but they need some work. The motors are locked up and the hinges are pretty tight.

I managed to get the drivers side motor hinge assy apart after making a jig for my press to push the pins out.

I think that perhaps I will maybe not use the pins on the rebuild and opt for a bolt instead. I have found a oil-lite bronze bushing to try the 1st repair.

What are some of the fixes you have used that didn't involve buying a new unit with exception of the motor.

Is there any adjustment to move the ENTIRE unit up and down? Mine are clean, lubed, and work perfectly but there is a large gap the full length of them on both sides. The hinges fold completely flat so the whole thing needs to move up at least 1/2". I got a lot of ideas when I wrote a thread starter on it but nobody knew how to move them up.

The only thing I can see is a foam button that's serves as a end stop for up and down. If there is something in the up position between the links it could cause a issue.

Again; they fold flat and they are in perfect condition. The only thing that would raise them is an adjustment where the whole thing attaches to the body but I haven't looked into that yet.

There's not 1/2" of adjustment on the mounts I can tell you that, unless something is bent.
Nothing is bent, nothing broken, nothing not functioning perfectly, both sides have the same gap all the way across. I guess it's just going to be a mystery why I can't fix it.

I know I made this thread a while back. I actually got them rebuilt and they work great. Only trouble we've since was during a heavy snowfall they stuck down. I knocked all the snow hit them with some pb blaster and put them in up mode until streets were clear again.

I used a harbor freight hydraulic press to push the pins out. There's a kit on ebay that has the parts for 1 hinge.
