I have the delayed/harsh upshift issue. Relearn cycle did not resolve issue so Ford approved a valve body replacement per the TSB.

Two questions: The vehicle has 67k miles. With them dropping the Trans pan and replacing fluid, does this technically count as a trans service? I was going to do one at 80k but if this counts as replacing the fluid like they would during a trans service I’ll have them also replace the filter while they are in there.

Second, has anyone had any luck with Ford extending their warranty. My vehicle was blue certified. Parts are on back order and likely won’t be in before the warranty expires. I reached out to Ford and they immediately said no. I’m pushing back but if anyone has had luck, let me know.

You may want to ask them to replace the filter. The labor to remove and replace it is covered in the valve body replacement - so you should only have to pay for the filter (called a screen) - which is inexpensive. That would be considered a transmission service, since the filter and fluid would be replaced.

Regarding extending the warranty or service contract. My 2015 Expedition, purchased new, is still covered under a Ford Premium Extended Service Plan I purchased.

It took a Ford dealer 51 days to repair my transmission, then 71 days to repair my steering rack - both due to lack of parts from Ford (both after diagnosis and parts ordered from Ford). This was all in less than a 12-month period.

I talked to the service advisor who said Ford absolutely would not extend my service contract while they dealer was waiting on parts from Ford.

Ford is running a scam, as they are running out time on their customer’s vehicle’s base warranty, power train warranty, and extended service contracts by failing to provide repair parts in a timely manner.

Wait, so the dealer is saying they wont cover the repair since the parts will arrive after your warranty has expired?

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

No, they will cover it but like several people here have experienced, it didn’t fix their issues so I want the opportunity to continue to pursue resolution. But I will likely have a bigger fight post warranty expiration.

Took my 2021 42,000 miles in to dealer for harsh upshift present on 1-3, 3-5. They removed and disassembled and reassembled valve body, no change. Then they replaced CDF cylinder, said it was resolved. Still has harsh upshifts? Any advice?
