I do know it's been made for LEDs but came with halogen ones originally
Sorry these housings were designed to work only with halogen bulbs… they were not designed for LEDs. If you replace the halogens with LED bulbs you have to make sure the diodes mimic the position and size of the halogen bulbs filament in the housing. Most cheap Amazon LEDs will not correctly mimic the halogen bulbs design and will not perform better than a stock halogen bulb.

The LEDs will appear brighter but they will not throw the light further down the road. You want to see farther ahead when driving and hotspots closer to the vehicle are not advantageous to that.

I did a lot of research on this before making the conversion on mine. You can search my username and find many of my previous posts on this issue.

I appreciate it. Thank you. I'm just debating this point taking it to the dealership and having it all done to and for LEDs. I appreciate your help and information a lot.

Having had LEDs for some time, they work fine in the projector housings, regardless of them being 'designed' for LED or not.

There are no 'dark spots', extraneous light; they cut off just like the halogens and give much more light down the road. I disagree with what others have posted regarding this. However, as noted, they are much higher temperature (a whiter light) but that's no different from factory LED lighting.

I agree with you. I have had LED bulbs in my 2013 expedition for quite some time now, and they are much better than the original halogen. It is important to make sure you get LED bulbs that have a chip on each side in the same location as a filament on the halogen bulb. That way they're projecting the light at the same place as the halogen bulb did so that it works good with the reflector.

I have a 2019 Expy and replaced the OEM halogens with aftermarket LEDs. Like someone said, the LED bulbs have LED diodes on each side of the bulb so if one side goes out, it won't be as bright as when it was new. See attached pictures. You can clearly see one photo vs the other where one has two beams of light while the other only has one. If still under warranty, contact the LED bulb manufacturer and have them mail you a replacement. That's what I did and they were very quick to send a whole new pair without any questions.

If the lights were working great for you before, just take out the bulb and reinstall it making sure it's position vertically with the light chips pointing to 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. My guess is something just rotated in there and so it's not putting the light on at the right spot. Very easy to just check that versus spending lots of money at a dealership for a potential simple fix

I replaced the Halogens in my '20 Expedition XLT projectors with 55 watt HID's. The HID's have a spherical bulb which is a better fit for the parabolic projector reflector. I compared them with the factory LED's in my '22 F150 with projectors. The HID's give a fuller pattern and reach out further; but, the '22 LED's "bend" around corners which makes up for the pattern loss.

What HID's did you use? If these aftermarket LED's keep failing after 1 year (or less it seems) I might switch to HID.

Just go to Headlight Revolution and purchase whatever they recommend to your specific vehicle. They have tested hundreds if not thousands LED bulbs before they recommend anything to customer. I purchased LED from them and put into my reflector housing. Just like their video showing, light pattern is perfectly fine.

I used Xenon Pro. Biggest issue with my '20 XLT is that the bulb sizes listed in the owner's manual are incorrect. Check the numbers on your bulbs and order the same replacement numbers, ignoring the manual.
