There is a lot to be upgraded on these for cooling purposes; the turbos run hot. I faced a lot of heat issues when I was in the mountains and started looking into all these options.

I decided to just go with the IC and the CAI.

Got the CAI installed and drove it around for a couple of days. Opened up the throttle on an onramp today and got the P04DB code. Did some research and learned that a vent tube has to be installed. The kit did come with this part but I did not installed it because I did not know where to install it. The instructions on Whipple's product page had no mention of what to do with this piece. Turns out that the instructions on the website is out of date. Turns out that the instructions that came with the CAI was more current. This is the first time that I have encountered documentation on a website being older than the one included with a product.

This tube narrows the passage of the crankcase ventilation so flow is decreased. From what I now understand, the increased air flow makes the system think that there is a leak in the crankcase so the code is triggered.

Can someone share exactly which Mishimoto intercooler was referred to in this thread? Also, did you replace all the piping with the IC?

KFordEx8, which IC & CAI did you go with? Links please :)

I just went with Whipple IC & CAI as originally planned. Was considering their entire kit that included a tune but decided not to mess with it for now.

If you are not in a state that has chosen to adopt CARB emissions rules, there are a lot more options.

This is the one I did, fit perfect, you have to cut the rubber gasket on the shroud but you have to do that for just about any new IC. https://5startuning.com/product/201...intercooler-kit-sleek-silver-mmint-f150-15sl/

I didn't replace the piping, i want to but what people are asking for the piping is absurd for minimal real change. Its one thing in exhaust systems where you have really terrible bends and you get something with soft mandrel bends, but I don't see that the factory pipes will create a whole lot of resistance in the air flow.

Swapped out the IC today. Three sides of the shroud needed trimming. Also, removed three of the four fins to the IC shutters. Left the one that is attached to the motor.

What's the CAI look like? How does it feel? Any Difference?
I will snap a pic soon. Throttle is a little more responsive and I can hear it. I haven’t really gotten on the throttle hard yet.

It threw the same code (P04DC) today under some boost at about half throttle going uphill. This is with the air intake vent tube installed that was not on before.
