Corsa says right on their website that they won’t sell just mufflers. They have a specific sound that is “their brand” or “their image” so they don’t want than image and their sound ruined by people doing their own thing.

Bumping this. Is Corsa now selling the muffler's and resonators seperately? I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on some upgrades now that my manifold leak is getting bad. Might throw in some exhaust plumbing as well.

oh boy, search for some posts from me. I've been through the ringer on these upgrades, i've essentially done about 3-4 full cat back systems now, swapping parts, probably 8 trips to my best exhaust shop for welds. Long story short, kind of screwed here. Real issue is that many aftermarket exhaust shops hate the EcoBoost as anything but stock ends up sound like a honda coffee can. I can attest, it's bad.

I've finally found a moderately good setup from front to back, using the following in order - SPD turbo adapters, SPD downpipes, SPD Stage2 Resonator, CGS muffler, and the smallest Corsa resonator available at the side exit tip. At idle, start, low power it's good, still a bit aggressive for a family hauler but its doable. However, under WOT or heavy throttle, this thing is stupid loud.

I've tried the corsa custom muffler (largest available 3" muffler) and that was worse than the CGS.
I tried the full CGS exhaust, was terrible till I added the SPD resonator and the Corsa resonator.
I tried a magnaflow cat back and had to pull it out in the first week. It literally shook the mirrors with cabin noise.

now, to be fair, my exhaust pro showed me a flyer for this, I didn't want to spend another $1500 or what ever it costs, but I suppose it could help. it's their new no-drone setup. https://www.magnaflow.com/products/...ght-through-performance-exhaust-muffler-14009

I think I still have the Corsa muffler if anyone wants it at my cost including shipping.

I've replaced exhaust systems including manifolds and adding turbo's to older vehicles, and never had anything sound this bad with aftermarket stuff. The funny thing, is that even the exhaust shop hates the factory parts too, says he has so many ecoboosts come in that need new mufflers because these motors blow out the packing material so often. But he always recommends replacing with OEM only. If I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't have touched the exhaust, which really sucks, the SPD adpaters and pipes really made a noticeable difference.

Thanks for sharing. My primary concern was reducing any potential restriction in the exhaust, not necessarily improving the exhaust note. So I guess I'll stay away from any post-cat changes. How are the SPD downpipes with the stock exhaust? Any issues with codes? I've seen some comments elsewhere about codes and the the O2 sensors needing to be relocated.

So couple things, I never actually tested the downpipes with the factory cat back setup. I should have, but i was overzealous, bought all the stuff ahead of time and just did everything from the turbos back.

Having said that, I personally believe that if you remove any/all restriction, the likelihood of blowing out the factory muffler is even greater. The heat is likely to transfer faster and further and if the actual volume/pressure were to increase, would destroy things faster.

As for the replacement, I sprayed the nuts and studs on the downpipes and adapters with pb blaster the night before, letting it soak overnight. My nuts and studs came out easy, but make darn sure you order the new stud kit if you're doing the adapters. as well as the ford anti-seize lubricant. Had all that up front and i'm glad i did. Now, I will say, my turbos were replaced at around 10K miles, and i did the exhaust work around 14k miles, so realistically none of my nuts/studs were seized. mine was easy, but I definitely think that if you have an impact drill, with the right bits, that will help a lot.

As for codes, 1000% order the downpipes with the O2 sensor extensions. I didn't and I had codes on my first test drive. Called SPD and they quickly sent out the extensions with great service. But absolutely get them. SPD knows this and will work with you on it. I'll be honest, I know others would disagree, but I had awesome service from the guys at SPD. And frankly, i really like their products. I do know this moving forward, after a very long conversation with them, that Gov't regulations are substantially impacting their business, with massive cost increases on cats. They are worried about their business for sure, I feel for them.

I also have a GTR which is a 3.6L twin turbo, it sounds insane with an aftermarket exhaust, it's not inherently different than the Ecoboost. There's nothing specific to a 3.5L twin turbo that makes unable to sound awesome. I believe the problem with the expy is the exhaust isn't equal length. There is a video of a raptor with the "trombone" aftermarket exhaust and it sounds more super car-ish. We need someone to cobble together or offer for sale some downpipes + equal length + dual to the back or proper mixing to a single muffler. All just theory on my part. I might try it. Let me know if you think it won't work.

Edit: The GTR has true dual exhausts. One side has a muffler and the other is a straight pipe. I have a remote valve where I can switch from one to the other. It's such a great feature. I was thinking since I've read other posts there isn't room to put a dual exhaust on the expedition to use this from Valvetronic.

One more Raptor Tromboner video.

that sounds awesome on the gtr, yeah I've climbed under this thing several times, there really is very little room to do a front to back dual, especially with the fuel tank where it is. With a whole lot of work, it's possibly you could do a dual side by side but if I remember correctly, there isn't enough room over the rear frame rail above the axle shafts and such. I could barely get the one 3" pipe in/out of there without nearly destroying my brake lines.

I’ve just blown out my second stock muffler.

They might stand up, if they were actually welded together inside, but unfortunately, they are not.

Garrett’s with adapters, SPD DP running thru stock Tail Pipe (my thought was keeping the rear resonator might help out some to keep the volume down), but not enough yet to matter with the first two muffler attempts.

I’ll let you know the results of muffler testing underway now. (0-2), so far.
DBX terribly loud,
Solo Quantum—a nice muffler, but not for this application, better (quieter) than the DBX, but still way too loud overall & cabin drone through out the rom range.

What are your thoughts on what muffler we should try next?

Bonus: pictures of 2018 Expy. Plat. Muffler. Multiple Hemholtz resonance chambers, which is why it’s so nice & quiet. If only it could take the heat & stay together inside.

You should give that Valvetronic a shot :)

Need something quiet for towing.

I would like to come up with a part number for this: F150 straight thru with hemholtz tuning chambers, but I’m not a member over there.

My exhaust guys said we could look at this, but I really didn't want to spend more on this, I've basically paid for 4 different catbacks over the years just trying to fix the sound. Not sure how well it would fit either. https://www.magnaflow.com/pages/xmod-series-universal-performance-mufflers

Supposedly this xMod design was specifically designed for engines like this that produce wild drone.
