Cool tip- sync 4a calm screen

cool tip- to put your sync 4a screen into “calm screen” (blank screen with clock) push and hold volume rotary dial for a few seconds. Tap screen to return.

On my super duty with sync 4 there was a physical button to put the screen into calm mode which I like for long nighttime drives. I was bummed how tough it was (numerous menus to navigatate through) to get to calm screen in the Expy with 4a. I asked two dealers for an Easier way and they didn’t know but this morning my son figured it out for us inadvertently.

So ignore this if it’s old news but hopefully this just made others happy as well.

Funny timing for this post - I was wondering on my ride home last night if an ongoing thread of tips and tricks for Sync 4A might be useful to the forum. I was playing around trying to learn how to get to local weather conditions and haven't found any way other than going to Navigation, and then the tools icon in lower right of the screen to select weather.

Is there not an sirius/xm app on the new sync 4 like there is on the sync 3 to get current wx and radar?

I'll do some digging around but I haven't found one. I don't think Sync 4 is relying on a Sirius subscription for traffic etc. like my 2017 did so may not be.

Sync4 does not have a Sirius/XM traffic and weather? Really?

Now that I think about it, the weather that I bring up through navigation\settings\weather says it's from Accuweather.

Does it show local and nationwide real time radar? What is Ford using now for traffic now?

It's one radar map that I suppose I'd call regional. Covers 1/3 to half of the country if I remember. I'll have to poke around and see if I can find where traffic comes from - unless someone else can chime in.

Thank you for the replies, m3olsen! I can't say I prefer Sirius/XM since I have not tried Ford's new apps. I just prefer not to change what works fine now.
