I bought a new 2015 Ford Expedition Limited 4x4 and purchased the Ford Premium Service Plan (it is not a warranty). There are different levels of the plan, with the premium covering the most.

The plan has covered a transmission, steering gear, engine water pump, ignition coil, door check strap, engine vacuum pump, degas coolant bottle and lines, and left side turbocharger cooling lines.

The vehicle has never been used to tow or haul heavy cargo - strictly passenger use.

The transmission and steering gear repairs were separate, but took 121 combined days at the dealer. I was provided a loaner car / rental for 120 days (not an Expedition - but a Fusion sedan).

This was my first Ford in 45 years of driving. The quality and reliability have been miserable, but the service plan has paid for itself many times over.

I tend to buy new vehicles, buy the service plan from the manufacturer (not a third party), and keep my vehicle for some time. I take care of my vehicles and service them, or have the service done at a dealer.

My advice is to buy the plan, unless you plan to get rid of the vehicle soon. The plan is transferable to a new owner, which is a private selling point.

Get it, but shop around. Try Lombard Ford, Flood Ford, etc.

I had a Ford extended service plan on our 2007 Expedition; it came in handy multiple times. I also purchased the extended warranty from Ford on my wife's 2022 Expedition. With the amount of electronics, etc. in the car now, it doesn't take much to wish you had the warranty. As a previous poster said, if you plan on keeping your vehicle for a while, that's a big factor. If you're out of warranty and you have the deployable running boards and they go bad, one of those will easily cost you > $1K (I speak from experience!)

Shop around..........I got mine for $1600-1700 to 100k miles on a 2019. Harold Zeigler and a couple other places have great prices. The ESP is absolutely worth every penny

Im interested in how the dealer gave you a loaner for that long. Did the ESP cover it or was the dealership just nice and let u have a loaner on them? Because my PremiumCare ESP doesnt include loaners and the dealers around here aint giving out loaners for free unless I rent it myself and pay out of pocket

My plan provides for a up to a 10-day rental, if the repairs take overnight.

I initially had to rent a vehicle, through the dealership’s association with Enterprise, then after the 10 days - the dealership provided one of their service rentals.

In both cases, the required part(s) were on national backorder from Ford, and I suspect that the dealer received some type of compensation from Ford for their rental (due to the inability of Ford to provide repair parts to their dealer).

From his sig. it looks like he's in FL. If so, he has to buy from a FL dealer. Of course there is a mark up.

Ah yeah, crappy. Might be the same price then unless his dealer charges above retail (not sure they're even allowed).

I chased that around some time ago. FL did some sort of legislation that of course screwed the consumer. Then Ford at a corporate level brought more pressure to bear and out of state dealers won't attempt to sell in FL. This is the short version.
