The waste-gate gets loose and begins to rattle, typically worse as it warms up and with engine load/acceleration. Sounds like a rapid light tin rattle.

I dont think its fair that Ford will replace some turbos for this reason and not others that experience the same noise.....
That is exactly what my wastegates on both turbos do and Ford told me its "normal" wastegate noise and refuses to replace them!
When I start my engine cold they rattle loudly and sound like crap for about a minute then adjusts them selves and gets "quieter" but when I rev the engine (blip) lightly while in park they rattle. When im driving and accelerating from a stop they rattle and Ford says its "normal" noise. ****** me off. $79,000 vehicle sounds like a damn shyt box at 56,000 miles

Im contacting my lawyer. Ford failed to inform owners that there was a possibility the turbo would rattle eventually before making the purchase. Not normal

Yeah agreed. Honestly, I was very upset at their dismissal. Even when they held the car overnight to try a cold start the next morning, they told us it was normal too. This is why I went to another dealer and complained about the other's incompetence. I told them our other previous expedition didn't sound like that.
