They did not accept an order with those features still on it. You couldn't put orders in without the delete. It is the dealership, not Ford.
They are a franchise. It would not be prudent to blame Ford for improper communication by a franchise dealership. I would make a complaint to Ford, but Would not hold them accountable for this case. The dealership knew what the buyer wanted not the manufacturer and they, the dealer, screwed it up.Keep in mind that any Ford dealer accepting retail orders for new vehicles is an “authorized Ford dealer” - and that is an extension of Ford.
Most of the Expeditions are still coming with them, but I have seen a few when looking at stickers with it deleted. Most F150's are missing it.So happy I have a 21. No heated steering wheel would be a no go for my wife.
Gun to my head I'd pick the Mercedes. My dream is to one day buy a E-Series AMG wagon. Thanks to all who replied. I'm not mad at the dealer or at Ford, that wasn't the point of my post. I'm certain they would prefer to sell me a $90k SUV with the options I wanted if they could. I'm also guessing it's my fault for not understanding the ordering process and not double checking the build that was submitted, I'm lazy and often clueless when it comes to this stuff.
FWIW they did get me my Bronco exactly as ordered ;-)
So, where I'm at:
1) Mercedes GLS -- I used to own a GL 550, and it was very nice. Service was also very good, and my dealer offered "concierge" pick up / drop off which is really convenient. Never did love the seats, though, and the headrests were weirdly uncomfortable. Will take a look at the GLS 580 in the coming week.
2) BMW X7 -- Just drove one today. Much, much nicer than I thought it would be. Definite contender. Will be taking a second look on Thursday.
Unfortunately, neither the GLS or the X7 have seating for 8, which is something I love about my Expedition. They do both have 6 and 7 seat configurations, and 7 might be enough.
3) GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate / Cadillac Escalade Sport or Premium Luxury Platinum -- Both very nice. Love the sound of the big V8. Very comfortable seats. I think the massage function is only the seat back for your lumbar region, and doesn't include your butt or the seat bottom. Also, and I find this very strange, it seems that the only way to get massage seats is to also get the rear seat entertainment system, which I hate.
4) Navigator -- This is probably my best option if I need something now. Loved the ride, I just really, really don't like how it looks. Can't spend that much on something that bugs me.
5) Bentley Bentyaga - The closest dealership is 300 miles away ;-)
I've been seeing the "leaks" on Ford Authority about the potential new resigned Expedition coming in 2025, which has me thinking I might try to wait it out or see if the 2024 adds the options I want back. Hoping the order banks open up early this year.
