I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good aftermarket wheel hub assembly. I know that some of them have issues with the dust covers fitting properly. Any info you can share would be appreciated. Thanks!
After I redid the heads on this vehicle, it ran very well for about 400 miles. Then it developed the intermittent stalling-while-driving problem. Then it stalled when idling. Now it won’t crank when the key is turned.
Something I should mention is that after the rebuild, the only issues were...
Any idea what would be a reasonable price to have the PCM reprogrammed? (don't ask why I need this done...too embarrassed to say, at the moment)
I can't use a PCM rebuild service on the internet, owing to a really bad previous experience. So, I'm wondering about what your experience has been...
Given the MAF and the TPS appeared to be original (with 186K on the clock) and the new replacement parts are not very pricey, I decided to replace them both and problem solved. Thanks again for the help!
Thanks for the info. Idle is fine at stop. After posting I also began thinking about the MAF again and that it sometimes doesn't throw a code. I haven't had a chance to look at the MAF live stream, which I will do next.
The Exp has been running great since the head gasket replacement (getting 18-19 mpg on the highway).
Th only lingering issues are two codes, that are probably not related to the issue I'll describe below (both the C1284 and P0552 are for low voltage to the oil pressure sensor and PS pressure...
I reset the PCM and drove the Exp about an hour, on city streets and on the highway. Drove really well, no unusual noises. Low Oil Pressure and High temp Low oil lights remained illuminated.
It threw a P0552 code (Power steering pressure sensor circuit low) which in my mind further suggests...
Ah, fun stuff! Will do.
One last question and I will stop imposing on your goodwill: the "High temp Low oil" light stays on even after the rig has been sitting overnight, this is with a cold motor and right after starting it. I even unhooked the negative battery cable for a minute when the...
So I just confirmed that the oil pressure is still at 90PSI (I didn't even re-prime it) but the oil pressure gauge in the cluster is still pegged at Low and the "Hi temp low oil" light is still on.
There are no codes being thrown.
No unusual noises from motor.
One question: would the temp...
I neglected to mention that I did test the oil pressure sensor wire to ground and there was no change in the gauge. This was before I measured the pressure at 90PSI. The connecting wire itself is in good condition, no cracked insulation, etc.
The new sensor is the correct one. Motorcraft...
Things just keep getting weirder.
I used this oil pressure test kit (thanks toHamfisted for the recommendation) and it worked great, I think. I used this kit to prime the pump. It comes with everything you need for a DIY pump primer except the pump itself. Just remove the gauge, insert the...
I am in the process of checking the oil pressure sensor wires and the sensor itself. I have a couple of questions:
1. The sensor has one blade that inserts into the plug. How can I test to see if current is reaching the sensor if there is only one slot in the plug? I tried putting one lead from...
You are right about the wires. I did come into contact with them many times during the rebuild. I will need to inspect them more closely and check for voltage.
Never any issue with oil pressure lights before rebuild. No codes are being thrown either. I just happened upon a video and it appears that this priming problem is fairly common. I am going to take a pressure reading (when my gauge arrives) and then use the priming method suggested in this...
Yeah, the motor sounded exactly like it should, no unusual sounds at all. Thanks for the recommendations. I'll buy a manual gauge and we'll see what happens.
I did a few 30-40 second cranks and still no pressure. So, I pulled off the filter for a second time and, again, it was filled with oil and a good amounted of oil came pouring out of the orifice on the oil filter adapter. So, some oil was moving around in there.
I know many of you will...
I cranked for 10-15 seconds, but I did so several times. I'll try the 30 second crank and see if it works.
Yes, new oil and filer.
Checked the oil pressure sending unit and it looked fine.
The pump itself seated with no problem and I double checked the torque on those bolts.
I definitely put...
