Not sure what differences between the Expeditions and my Navigator might be as far as exhaust, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the nice rumble of my Navigator when I get on it.
For my 2nd Gen Expedition I rebuilt, I did put a nice Flowmaster exhaust on it, and that was fantastic! No...
It’s not that complex, nor required the entire dash or the airbox to be removed. You have a blend door actuator up top, and a mode select actuator (IIRC) on the bottom. I’ve personally replaced them both.
The blend door actuator up top can be done in about 30 minutes. Ford Tech Makeyouloco has...
The lack of excessive dust leads me to believe the pads aren’t getting chewed up at an accelerated rate. However, a quick search of the Google tells a different tale, claiming faster brake pad wear with drilled and slotted rotors. Time will tell. For now I’m pleased with the braking performance...
Over 20 years ago I added a pop-up sun roof to my ‘99 Ranger. It’s doable. Let a quality shop take on the project. It was about $500 back then, so now I suppose it’d be about eleventy-billion dollars :p
That’s a picture of my current installation. While I don’t have drilled and slotted rotors on my Super Duty - that’s what does the heavy towing (14,000 boat) - my copious research lead me to this Powerstop kit for my Navigator.
I’ve got about 2,000 miles since installation, and it’s been...
Front rotors were warped when I took possession of my ‘19 Navigator in April of this year. Knocked out a quick brake job with rotors and pads I could source locally. After 6 months, had vibration again during high speed braking. Solved the problem with Powerstop Z36 kit.
Have you ever cleaned the engine since last July? Step 1 to diagnosing a leak is to have a clean engine to identify where the leak is coming from.
Based upon the one picture you provided, it’s nearly impossible to tell you if it’s a valve cover gasket, VVT solenoid gasket, etc. that’s causing...
Well a short 6 months later, and the locally sourced front brakes I got for my warped rotors….have warped.
So did my homework and went with the Powerstop Z36 upgrade front and rear.
Mr. Big, do you have any details the recall / TSB? Since getting my Navigator this past April, I immediately noticed what I thought were high trans temps (215+), so I installed the updated thermostat. Highest I’ve seen since then has been 205*, and that’s in Excite mode with mildly spirited...
I recently had my fronts done, to match the factory tint on the rest of truck. The shop used an optical meter on the back windows to determine which tint they were installing on the fronts. I don’t recall the %, but it matched perfectly.
Three days after running my 2019 Navigator through the car wash, water remained inside the reflector assembly on the rear hatch. See pics. The dealership told me it’s not covered under my Lincoln Premium Care extended warranty (with lighting option) and quoted over $4k to fix it. After talking...
From my engine swap a couple years ago in my ‘03 EB 5.4, I had trouble with the EGR pipe as well. Anticipating destroying it during the removal process, I was able to source a new EGR pipe - allegedly the last one in the country.
Turns out I was able to salvage the original EGR pipe, so I have...
Every Ford I’ve owned since 2012 has had the Intelligent Oil Life Monitoring system. I’ve adhered to that interval and notification, and it hasn’t failed me yet. Following the IOLM, I’ve logged close to 400,000 miles, running full synthetic in everything. That includes a 2.0L, 4x 3.5L...
I recognize that, and used the vastly different vehicles simply to illustrate my point. Seems that with the higher output 3.5, Ford / Lincoln would have offered more stout braking options. That appears to not be the case.
Looking closely at the pics, they are surface-mounted. I’ve had both over the years, and in-channel mount, or tucking into the window track, are the only kind I’d ever go with. The surface mount look hokey to me, and on several vehicles over the years I’ve removed the surface mounted vent...
Interestingly, I had to go with a no-name epoxy from the Amazon for the caliper paint on my wife’s Jag. I went with POR 15 caliper paint on a different vehicle, and was relatively satisfied with the results, but POR 15 didn’t have the correct red to match with the Jaguar center piece. Truth be...
Well done on the deal for the brake upgrade! Tempting…
Those pics were from my wife’s XJ. It’s got the supercharged 3.0 and is quite the performer. Everything under the hood reads FoMoCo ;)
Ha - maybe we’re both right. My wife did like the red calipers, so I took care of that on her car. It’s gotta be good for 5 HP right?:p
The genesis for my original question was after recently taking possession of my ‘19 Navigator, a front brake job was due in short order because the rotors...
I can agree with that to an extent. However, look at the brakes on a typical F150 and look at the brakes on a GT500. One of them has 6-piston Brembos, and it’s not the heavier of the two.
