    Recently saw a video on why replacing rather than rebuilding transmissions is preferable. And it was exactly because of the problem you face. You do the work but if you miss one step or something isn't exactly as it should be, you have to do it all over again.

    DW's 2013 King Ranch had nearly 50k by 2016. Then we retired to a small town. It just turned 56k last week. Perfect condition. Both of us are leery of replacing it. My 2020 Lincoln Corsair eats a $300 battery every couple of months this year. Junk. And only 26k.

    Buy and bring your own oil and filter. Call first to get the labor charge. I go to a major shop here. It's $25 and they check fluids and tire pressure. Then I know what I'm putting in my vehicles, not what I'm being told.

    I've put nearly 300k on 3 of our 4 Xps without a single engine problem. But all were 5.4. I didn't want that new engine. Although I ended up with one in a Lincoln.
