    Weird idle issue 2025 platinum

Drive it hard, get some fresh gas in it, really blow out the cobwebs so to speak.

Front Lower Control Mount Broke Off

Wow, this is a 4th gen? That's some serious corrosion too, though I see you're in Alberta so that makes sense. Still, I have an '18 that has been in NY/PA its entire life and it looks, well, almost new underneath. Yowza! I agree with your mechanic, though I'd get a second opinion. $14k CAD is...

    What oil are you using

At the end of the day, the safest, most economical and tried/true is: Motorcraft SynBlend 5w-30 with a Motorcraft FL500 filter, every 5k or less. Done. Don't need to break the bank.

    Rear End Loose Feeling

Just to update, new tires greatly improved this. Threw on Continental TerrainContact's and a 4 wheel alignment (though the prev. alignment wasn't out), and she drives a lot nicer.

    Interchangeable parts

RockAuto shows caliper compatibility from 03 thru 06. Same for front + rear rotors. You should be good to go.

2021 Platinum. 39k Miles. Leaky Shock. ESP Denied

This shouldn't be a case of loyalty or not. Someone at the dealer is not doing their job, OR the specific part number is in fact not covered, but the dealer can tell you if you ask a direct question of "here is X part number, is this covered under Y warranty." Again, YMMV but the rear SHOCK...

2021 Platinum. 39k Miles. Leaky Shock. ESP Denied

I would call Ford. Ford literally has a tool for dealers where they can look up the part number and it'll show what warranty covers it, if any. I just had a rear SHOCK replaced in my 2021 Explorer under PremiumCare, no questions asked. YMMV.

    Rear End Loose Feeling

It could be.. I'm almost wondering if I'm just not used to it. All of our vehicles drive so differently, maybe I'm just not used to it, but my F-150 drives a lot better (to me). Granted, its wheelbase is substantially longer. I'll take the Expy out this weekend sans wife + kids and huck it...

    Rear End Loose Feeling

The struts feel fine over dips and dives at highway speeds, though I suppose they could be worn. Visually, all looks OK. I will have to get underneath and pull on some stuff, and have the dealer check the alignment. It's almost like the initial turn-in is too aggressive. You turn in, then the...

    Rear End Loose Feeling

Hi all, We have a 2018 Expedition that recently has started to exhibit an odd handling characteristic. The rear of the car is behaving differently, and I can't figure out if it's tires or what. At highway speeds, the car seems VERY eager to turn-in and responds to very little steering input...

Change in engine sound after oil change and engine flush

It makes a lot of racket on cold start, give it a minute or two to settle down and kick over to port injectors. Once the high pressure DI injectors shut off it gets amazingly quiet.

2019 Max Platinum 39K miles and a leaky sunroof

I believe there are four - one at each corner, but don't quote me! Unrelated, but as a preventative, Ford has recommended in several TSBs to use this lubricant on seals. It wouldn't hurt to lube everything while you're up there...

2019 Max Platinum 39K miles and a leaky sunroof

I am almost positive even the highest tier of Ford warranty (PremiumCARE) does NOT cover sunroof related components or glass. I discovered this when buying my Expedition + Warranty (I have a PremiumCARE). Start by checking your sunroof drain lines, I'm betting they're clogged and the interior...

Long RV Trip Report - Also Engine Heating

Get your thermostat and thermostat housing replaced with the new revised OEM part. You'll drop 15F on engine temps, FYI.

    Upcoming Trip Advice

Thermostat + housing, coolant hoses for the heat, plugs and coil boots, differential fluids and transmission fluid, transfer case fluid. Good places to start. CDF drum may be in your future but likely out of warranty it sounds like. Do the preventatives though and you'll have a good experience.

    ESP Pricing Increase

There is an old saying, "you snooze you lose." Unfortunately the only person to be disappointed with is yourself. Alas, lesson learned. I suggest you pull the trigger now or face the same disappointment again. We live in a very inflationary environment, so this is no surprise. Also, $120 is a...

    Approach Detection - MY2020

Would be interested in this as well, but I'm betting you're not able to. FWIW the 2021+ F150's in XLT trim (302A) have this feature too. Maybe you could look into FORSCAN settings there and see if you can find anything similar? Different generation/electrical architecture though.

LT's will definitely give it a stiffer ride. Bilstiens are great though, nice choice.

    Thermostat Replacement - Use OEM?

Go OEM only and get a requote. It's probably 3hr labor and the parts aren't too costly. Shop around, or ask what the $1300 consists of. Is there additional service? Coolant flush, hose replacement, is it the whole t-stat housing too? My dealer did the whole housing on mine too, apparently it can...
