In my case yes. On the passenger side specifically it was very clear that there was oil on the starter and everything in that area. It was visible from the passenger wheel well. It also left a small oil spot on the driveway.
Mine had a leaking head gasket when I bought it. It was leaking very small amounts of oil onto my exhaust manifolds (both sides) I drove it like that for a year and a half no issues just topping oil every now and then. I would use less than a quart between oil changes though.
This is a common...
Interested in the pics of beam with the $45 lenses.. Does it seem to be worse than the stock setup? I really want better light output on this truck but wasn't really looking to do a projector setup.
I notice a bit of a miss or something only at idle. When we pulled the heads off, 2 or 3 of them were clearly running much leaner than the others as per the more whitish color. I should have probably replaced injectors while I was at it, but running 4 bottles of techron (2 separate tanks) seems...
Friend of mine that owns a shop did that work since it's a bit more than I can pull off in my townhouse. He did it all with the engine in place though. Just started taking it apart from the top down. We cleaned up all the parts while they were out and it was nice to see cross hatching marks and...
I've got a 99 that I love with about 137k on it now. I had some oil leaks from the heads over the manifolds as well as rotted manifolds with missing bolts etc. I was getting sick of the oil hitting the exhaust manifold and smoking so despite the fact that it still ran great, I had all the...
If you can crawl under it and look at the transmission pan it will tell you. I forgot the exact number but I think the 4r100 has 20 bolts in the pan and the 4r70 has 14 or so. The shape is also different so you can check the shape vs the gasket type at a parts store or the links below.
4r100 =...
I've got a 99 EB as well. Purchased with 127k on it and love it. Great vehicle and it's reassuring seeing so many members here with well over 250k (miles) on these trucks. I bought it for $3700 or so 18 months ago and have since put about as much money into it mostly due to desire rather than...
Good info. Do you know which one you got? I got the "drivewerks" from Advance Auto for $124 or so. All of their options showed as 130amps but it certainly feels like a bad alternator issue. I might be able to swap it under their 1 year warranty, but I'm guessing another of the same model would...
Thanks for the suggestions. I did spray out the small 2 wire connector with electrical cleaner. It didn't help but will take a more in depth look when it's a but warmer than 10 degrees.
The flicker is steady and actually flickers faster when raising the rpms. Engine was recently torn apart to...
Has anyone else experienced lights flickering? It's mainly noticeable with the interior lights when it's dark out and you open the door, but it's also noticeable in the headlights or radio/climate control display. This problem seems to go away completely when turning headlights off. Turning...
That definitely seems oddly high with any city driving. I can just barely touch 16-17 with 100% highway trips. Mixed is typically 12-13 for me. That is as per the fuel usage computer, though manual calculations are typically close to the computers.
I was considering this set.. Price is worth the risk I think.

I agree, light output isn't great in mine either. I'd like to improve it but I don't think an HID kit is the way to go in any non projector housing. I'm debating trying better bulbs to see if it makes much difference.
I recently dealt with this. I would have lived with it, but it was getting worse and smoking really bad when stopped/idling.
A buddy with a shop did this for me for $500 labor. I spent a decent amount more on parts. Aside from replacing all gaskets from the heads up, I ended up doing a full...
I've tried 2 motors now and it still only works when it wants to. Smacking it with a rubber mallet usually fixes it for a little while, but it's not too convenient when you're on the highway. :)
Did you get the Flashpaq 1865?
I've been looking for a tuner but I don't want to spend a whole lot more on this truck.. I really wish there was an opensource diy option for this platform..
Yeah I had some serious dive issues and general control at highway speeds around corners. I believe the shocks that came out were the originals with about 130k miles on them. :(
It's possible any new shock would have solved that issue, but more than once now a passenger has noticed that it...
I paid $4200 for my99 EB 5.4 AWD (127k miles) in Aug 2012. There were a bunch around cheaper, but this one was from Phoenix and had no body rot. Everything that's been in upstate NY for any length of time is pretty much rotted so I paid a bit more and felt okay about it. I've since put about...
How are you liking this intake? I'm still considering one, although to be honest I'm regretting not going for a 7.3L Excursion and might look into finding one still rather than putting any more money into the Expedition.
As for cleaning it, I've got an open element filter on my turbo'd subaru...
