That rubber piece being in place will help direct air through the radiator/condenser assembly while moving. Sitting stationary its not going to make a difference.
I just replaced the AC compressor on my 09 Expy. It was at 230K miles and still running, but not cooling well at all. Pressure were a little low but not super bad. I bought a used low millage AC compressor from a salvage yard for $40, turns out it was a brand new compressor, score! I compared...
I guess that's a risk of buying any used car. I bought a Honda CRV that ran and drove fine, and after a few months it was giving me issues. Turns out it had extremely low compression on 1 cylinder.
The most you can do is to take it to a known good Ford mechanic and ask them to go over it with...
Every Brand has its issues. Dodge has valvetrain and valve seat issues, chevy has AFM issues, Ford has timing component issues. They can all be permanently fixed before issues arise allowing it to go many hundreds of thousands of miles. I'm sitting at 227k and its been running great.
I prefer...
I just replaced a clicking but smooth and super free turning wheel on my Fusion. It was moaning at highway speeds. You can disconnect the sensors and spin, but they shouldn't be touching anything anyways.
It's a little harder when its 4wd. The 4x4 is engaged when vacuum is removed so if its a...
If this is a parts store (Orielly, or Autozone) sensor I would strongly recommend that you purchase a Motorcraft sensor or a known good brand from RockAuto.com or other reputable site. I have resolved more than a few issues by swapping out to a reputable brand sensors. I have had far too many...
Rotors fit, just one was slightly too tight on the hub, I fixed that by grinding it but it’s still tight. All rubber brake lines were replaced about 2 years ago with all motorcraft lines. Master cylinder is also new motorcraft. I found the culprit.
Parking brakes were replaced when I did the...
After that I went to every wheel and rotated the tires, I found that the driver rear was dragging pretty good. great, that's why it started pulling to the left right?? I went ahead and pulled it apart and rebuilt it because I had purchased the stuff to do that a while ago. Turns out I only have...
Just another update. I might have found my low power culprit. . . . . . .
For starters here is what I did so far.
I inspected the cats because I though maybe one was loose and plugging occasionally. I inspected it with the borescope and it looked not broken but not sure if its plugged. Went...
Before you invest any money into it check your thrust bearing clearance with a simple test, or have a shop do it.

With the resale of these not being great I would go used for a motor, and or transmission if actually needed.
Car-Part.com and a good...
Wow, that's always a bummer when you are chasing a problem and it turns out to be a brand new part that was supposedly tested good from the factory. . .
Glad you got it figured out!
Have you tried jumping the relay connection to see if it powers on at all? That will help you narrow it down from either a power issue, or a trigger issue.
I would start by checking the fuses if you went and spliced things with the battery connected. I think spot 51 is a 40 amp relay for the blower motor.
After that I would check on your clicking blend door actuators. I found out that a faulty blend door will prevent the blower from turning on. I...
226K miles now,
from 180K till now these are the things that I replaced preventatively.
Fuel pump (it was loud once but still running)
ALL rubber brake lines (had some burst on older vehicles)
Brake master cylinder (It worked, but it stops a lot better)
Water Pump (when doing the timing...
I had this same exact issue with the i think hot/cold actuator under the drivers side dash tucked up under towards the center consol.
It would click about every second attempting to find the home position because the potentiometer was broken. My symptoms were nothing worked with it plugged in...
I left everything on the valvetrain untouched and intact, I used a pair of vice grips on the rough casting part to hold the cams in position when I removed the chains. This prevented them from spinning, and I was able to rotate one into position during install.
That was about 50k miles ago...
Think it was something I sprayed on it to clean it. Maybe I grabbed the wrong can of cleaner when I did the bulkhead sleve, I don't know.
I tore out the harness and repaired it and now its back up and running. Liquid tape, heartshrink solder splices. Replaced a blown fuse and it works. Found...
Update:
Truck died, dash lit up light a Christmas tree, No connection to anything.
Found an issue with the transmission plug. . . This might have been causing some issues. . . . All of the insulation is flaking away like someone sprayed it with something that cause the insulation to become...
Cool experience.
I did my timing at 175k ish, only one tensioner was slightly blown, no noise issues. I did the Melling timing kit with the ratcheting cast iron no gasket tensioners and the HV pump. Don't remember which one. . Sitting at 226k and it still running, trans needs some love now...
