I hope it's just the speaker glue, it's just a hot smell not a smokey smell and it's coming directly from the speakers... it's not in the amp area at all.
My amp seems to be doing fine on heat... I had the volume at max for about 10 minutes and it was warm but not hot. If I ever do blow the amp for some reason I have a 3 year warranty on parts and labor.
RMZ.. you might able to get the tint done for cheaper then what I was quoted because this...
It's suppose to stop 85% of IR waves(heat causing waves) and 99% of UV. Obviously this guy overcharges so you can probably find a better deal, but he wanted $100 to remove the old tint and then $600 to do all the windows (windsheild, front, and all back). Like I said though I got it for half...
I think the tint brand is Insulatir.
Here are some pics.. the one pic is of the windsheild where you can see the difference between the untinted part, the gap will be covered by the rearview mirror. The windsheild has 70%, front windows 30%, and everything else 5%.
Pics are from camera phone...
I went back and told him basically what you said and of course he tried to justify his pricing, but I got him to throw in a red top optima battery for free and retint all the windows for half price with ceramic tint. The ceramic tint is pretty impressive, it doesn't let any heat through at all...
haha I know I got ripped off... I said in the first line of my post I probably paid twice what I should have (maybe even more than twice). When it takes you a hour to drive 5 miles(insane LA traffic)... it kind of limits the options for installers. Plus this guy will replace anything down to the...
Yeah 5x7's in all the doors.. I wanted 6x9's for better bass but the installer said the Hertz 6x9's would be too deep (hitting the power window) and would need custom pods.
Those are some good ideas, I'm going to have to take a look at the 3rd row seat, take some measurements, and see exactly what kind of space I have to work with.
Check out this yuotube video: Jeep with subwoofer in seat
Are you talking about something similar to this? Also here it says that a 4th order box is bigger than a normal box. Normally I like sealed boxes to get better SQ, but if I only have 1 small sub I might need a ported for better SPL...
I don't trust any shops either, but I don't have any free time to do it myself so I had to go somewhere. I went to a local shop called Startronics hoping that since they aren't a chain store they would do a better job. I'll probably get a sub eventually, after I do some thinking of where I want...
I plan on keeping the expedition pretty much forever, so I wanted to get the best of everything so I never have to upgrade again. Truck is still in the shop.. this shop hasn't seen a ford in awhile so they had to go out and get some adapters, mostly they do porsches, mercedes, ect. Also a full...
The dynamat works very well at reducing rattles and keeping road noise out/ your music in... the only thing is that it's very expensive. There are many dynamat knock-offs, some that perform just as well at half the price. Audio stores only carry dynamat though because, like most things, you can...
That's what I wanted to do but there's just not enough depth in there.. maybe 4 inches at the max. Anything put in there would not have enough air space and it would be a rattle nightmare. That is where I put my amp though so it's hidden. I've had my car broken into twice to have my subs...
The bass on the factory speakers are better than the new ones I got, but improving bass wasn't my goal. It was to get perfectly clean sound at even the most extreme volumes, and that's what the hertz speakers do. In other words, I like to listen to music loud, and the factory system doesn't get...
I was hoping the door speakers would have some decent mid bass, but they don't which is was the only disappoint I have (besides bass the sound is really clear and gets loud without any distortion). I didn't go with a sub because I always fill up the cargo space in back and couldn't afford to...
you probably spend the same time to cover the surrounding areas as it would to take it out, I just didn't want to have to find the tools to do it, and it just seemed less complicated to leave it in. I had a big roll of plastic and plenty of blue tape so I easily covered everything up and was...
I probably paid twice what I should have, but it's not easy finding a place that is close, does good work, and fully warrantees every part of the install.
Here's what I got and what it cost:
-$450 Front Door Speakers - Hertz High Energy
-$450 Rear Door Speakers - Hertz High Energy
-$450...
I upgraded my head unit to one with a screen and a bunch of other options so I don't need my stock 6 disk. It's a stock 6 indash cd player from an 03 XLT. It works perfectly, I only replaced it to get more features. PM me with an offer.
There are a few threads already on painting your grill. Fusion doesn't require any prep besides cleaning the dirt off. If it seems really greasy use some rubbing alcohol to remove the grease. I definitely recommend painting it black, it will turn out nice. Just get some blue tape and plastic to...
So now you have a 3+ inch drop in the front and the back is normal? Why did you even drive away from the shop? Did the shop say anything about the back not dropping and the extra parts?
Is that original paint? If so it's looking extremely good for the mileage... My paint is still shiny but unfortunetly I've put a lot of light scratches in it too...doesn't help that I have black paint.
