    Post your MPG and year

5.4 with 4x2.. I get about 16mpg on freeway with normal driving and 18mpg on freeway if I accelerate/drive slower. I never drive more then a mile off the freeway so I dont know my city mpg. Mods are listed below. I wish I could add exhaust to get better mpg and power, but I dont like the noise

    2003 rear exterior question

The paint is looking nice on that 03, is it a recent pic or is it from when it was newer?

Somehow I went past the speed limiter?

I was driving on the freeway and I decided to do a little burst of speed to see how fast I could get from 70 to 100mph and somehow I ended up going a little over 105mph when the limiter is suppose to stop at 100. The truck kind of paused at 100 for a moment and then slowly started to accelerate...

Anyone seen the economy cold air intake?

Ok, well if you can't find the piping then consider my mod which will only cost about $5 for the coupling and IMO will be as good as any discount CAI and maybe even equal to more expensive ones.

Anyone seen the economy cold air intake?

A filter alone should cost atleast $20... I would be worried about the quality of materials you getting for that price. You may be saving money now, but to have a cheap filter installed will cost a lot of money in the long run.

    Expy's with high milage

Well he said nearly 20mpg which could mean more around 19mpg, which is possible with a few mods and if you use very light acceleration. My 5.4L has gotten 18mpg, but due to my driving habits it's usually around 16. If getting 20mpg is someones target mpg for the expedition, it's not unrealistic...

    brake lines - copper/nickle tubing

Are you able to find some made for the expedition? I never could. The conclusion I came to is you only need copper/nickle tubing for racing applications due to it being more like to malfunction in some way (can't remember how).

Interested in buying an 03-04 Expedition

2003 is the best year expedition made too date. I think it has the best features of the old and new expedition. One thing you will find in the 03 that none of the other gen 2 body styles have is the bench seat up front which creates a lot more leg room for the driver. 03 doesn't really have any...

Anyone seen the economy cold air intake?

best economy CAI is to take off the end of the intake pipe that downsizes from 4" to I think 3" and replace the end with a 4 inch rubber coupling... remove the silencer box and put in a k&n. IMO that's the best and way to do an economy CAI and will probably perform close to the expensive CAI.

    Increasing fuel mpg

With K&N installed, only at WOT there is a slight increase in engine noise, definitely nothing noticable under 3k rpm. I agree that you're only going to get about .5mpg better, but that adds up over time. Usually hp and mpg are inverse of eachother, and if you use a chip to increase mpg there's...

    Fuel filter 2007

Watch the mythbuster episode on them trying to get a cars gas tank to explode by running it off a cliff... they found that the upper middle part of the chassis is actually the least likely place to get impacted.

Post Your Real World 0-60 Times

I was wondering what my actual 0-60 time is for my expedition, since the numbers posted by Ford and magazines are usually faster then actual times. Here is how I tested: I used a stop watch and punched the gas at the same time I hit start on the stop watch. I didn't use brake torqueing or any...

    2010 Expy Oil Change Notes

Oh ok, I must have read it wrong the first time. If you're already paying for 91 gas you might as well get your ecu tuned to get the max power out of it. I thought using 91 without a tune would decrease power and/or gas mileage?

Steering Stablizers, Balls joints... how can I improve handling?

I am trying to figure out ways to improve handling without lowering the expedition, and was wondering how much improvement aftermarket (maybe dual) steering stabilizers would help? From what I know they help keep the steering wheel from jerking around when you hit a bump, but I'm wondering if...

    vibration after new transmission

If you paid with a credit card let your card company deal with them. I know for sure American Express and Discover are both excellent at refunding your money for bad service without asking you a bunch of questions.

    2010 Expy Oil Change Notes

What do you think about the K&N oil filters? (although it looks like you didn't get to test it for long) I was thinking about giving them a try. That's awesome that you want to maintain your vehicle well, but do you really think every 3,000 is necessary with full synthetic? That's like changing...

Popping Noise From Rear A/C Blower '03 Expo

I need to get around to fixing this, I don't think I've had rear air for 3 or 4 years in my expedition now. (Bought new in 03, I just unplugged the motor to stop the clicking). I think one time I got a quote from the dealer to fix it and it was near $300, and I decided to wait until I had time...

    03 molding

I have painted my cladding, unfortunetly the pics from my thread don't work anymore (http://www.expeditionforum.com/showthread.php?t=2012&highlight=cladding) To get it smooth you have to use a primer, and only use really fine sand paper, like 400+. If you use course sand paper, it will really...

XLT 4x4....What is the biggest tires?

I have 285/60/18's on mine (you're a tire guy so I know you can do the conversion comparison) and I get slight rub on my 03 xlt when I have the wheel cranked all the way.

    dumb question time

Not sure.. but if you're really feeling lazy I know it only cost $30 at the dealership to have the fuel filter changed.

New Project - Selling My Expedition :[

I'm a little confused, why would you sell your current expedition for a wrecked one? It would make sense if you were going to get a wrecked 03+ that has a different body style and better suspension, but as far as I know there's not much difference between a 99 and an 02. With your 99 atleast...

Why is my 2005 expy more powerful than 2008

This is surpsing to hear because the 2008 expedition should be near a second faster in 0 - 60 times. Maybe the gearing makes it feel different? Try using a stop watch and do some time test on both vehicles to find out how much difference there really is. Or, the easier way would be to get...

Why it's good to have a truck in a wreck...

Sounds like the trailer hitch has saved a few of us... it does make a good solid bumper gaurd. Also, sitting up high has saved my expedition a few dings since most car doors hit the plastic side cladding which usually doesn't leave a mark. The only big ding I have on my expedition is from...

Aftermarket Anti-Sway Bars - Hellwig and Belltech from stillen.com

Yes, lowering springs and sway bar upgrade would help stabilize the truck much better and would greatly increase steering and cornering abilities. Increasing cornering abilities is the main reason I installed my sway bars, I would install lowering springs too, but I do too much offroading and...

Constant power to accessory plugs a problem?

I have an 03 too, and I've pretty sure the cigarette lighter power will turn off after 15 minutes of no doors being opening or the locks being touched. This is how the lights work, and by automatically turning off after 15 minutes it has saved me a dead battery or 2.
