Yeah, you'll need a bigger blower. The m90, while technically able to support the 5.4L, is more appropriate for the 4.6L. Like pronstar said, go with the Lightning swap or with a good centrifugal blower.
I don't know if this is accurate, but I've heard that the stock torque converter lockup settings in the EEC are responsible for the apparent lag in 2nd gear. I've noticed it in our Expo. I would think that performance would go down if the tranny and converter are running hot.
I had the same problem on both front and rear a while back. Took it in to have the dealership diagnose it for about $35 and they said both motors were bad. They wanted an arm, a leg and a nut to replace it. My wife and I bought the motors and replaced them in about 2 hours. We also have the '00...
Not having warped rotors from ceramic pads seems to be more important to me than the vanity of having little dust...
Just make sure you get good rotors to go with ceramics if you get them. I don't know what those are because my stuff is stock. Brembo is a good brand though...
I'd also stay...
Yeah, anytime you change the fluid, the filter needs to be changed too. And like it was mentioned earlier, drain the converter too.
You could take a Mercon bath once yourself and then have a drain plug installed so that changing the fluid will be much easier next time. ;-)
A plate cooler is better than a tube and fin cooler. I have a 28K lb. B&M plate cooler on my tbird.
One thing to remember, a super-large cooler may not be a good thing in colder climates. It could run too cold.
I don't tow much with the Expy (family vehicle) so I won't need to upgrade...
What do you means by "how much better it flows"?
Compared to what?
Converted? Well, Allen is one of the few supercharger setups that is actually an all inclusive kit. It does include a replacement manifold/plenum. And it is intercooled. But converted to other setups? What other setups?
Wouldn't you have to do some custom intake work to get an intercooler under a KB??
IIRC, you're gonna have to do a lot of fabbing to get an intercooler in there...
If you turn the rotor on the Expy then they'll warp again pretty quick. Spend the money for new ones.
Also, don't go with the ceramic pads unless you have high dollar rotors. The ceramics warp regular rotor awful quick.
Been there, etc....
It depends on how much room you have between the outer tire and the fender. On my Tbird, I got away with it using a socket wrench, a small socket and a Phillips bit. They were screwdown.
The hardest part is getting them level with the ground, IMO.
Thanks guys, for the info.
I haven't been under there other than just to look at how the levers were. I'm also familiar with how the throttle body is set up. I just haven't had any of my vehicles had a sticking problem and didn't know where to begin...under the dash or under the hood.
I'll...
Not really drivetrain-related, but the throttle is sticking (especially when it's cold), meaning that it's hard to press down and then breaks, causing an engine surge as the pedal goes down quickly.
Where do you "lube" a sticky throttle to make it smooth again??
thx
Allen
If you're gonna stay with the stock-type of rotors, DO NOT use ceramics. Ceramics tend to focus more heat INWARD than regular metal-matrix pads, causing warpage very quickly. I got rooky-doo'd by a local shop saying that "they recommend" the ceramics for a big truck. A bunch of crap.
Trust...
I agree with pronstar.
I'm running a roots supercharger on my 4.6 tbird and all the parts/tuning stuff he said was right on. Injectors, Lightning MAF, and a tune. Another thing you might think about is a higher stall torque converter. I'm not real familiar with the ones on the trucks but adding...
