Every time I read new post and information from this thread I get more and more excited to do a swap like this!
Have you been able to engage 4 wheel drive since the swap? The computer doesn't read anything from the trans that would stop it, right?
This is really cool! Good work man! You are giving me the manual trans itch! If I could find a good used ZF5 or ZF6 that mates to a mod motor for less than 2k. I would be all over it! I would really love to get rid of the auto slush box!
Here are more pics. Its hard to tell in the pic'sl, but you can adjust the output air without moving anything. The seat belt looks like its in the way. But its not.
Here's the end result. It can fit behind the bin area, as long the bin is removed and replaced by a cover plate. The top cover of the air compressor had to come off and I slid it as far into the cavity as i could. Taking the cover off allowed me the opportunity to relocate the fuse and on/off...
Correct, its 120v AC. Sorry for any confusion.
To be honest though. Tonydiv has me wondering if I would have room to fit this in front of the jack storage compartment since mine has a bin in that location instead of a subwoofer. The unit is only 8" wide and 13" tall. That would keep it from the...
Yes its not "rated" for outdoor use. I plan on making a cover to keep as much moisture from getting to it as I can. I paid very little for it, so if it lasts a year, then I'm still ahead.
Its a 12v and I have a dedicated inverter to power it that will be mounted inside the cab.
In the future I...
LOL, that would be step four. This expy spent its life in the south. The trailing arms are solid. I plan on replacing them before next winter because I like the strength of tubular control arms over the cheap sheet metal bent stuff! Thanks for looking out for me though!
I'm putting on-board air on my expedition. I've always wanted a compressor for out on the trail or when Im camping or I find a low tire in a parking lot somewhere. This is how I'm going about it because it seems the easiest way.
Step one - Own a Expedition. Looking in my driveway...done...
For the past couple weeks the solenoids in the dash are clicking, like they are trying to engage the four wheel drive when I start my Expy. Now only A4WD works as well. Any thoughts on what the problem could be? Its a 1997 Expedition XLT 4.6l.
Of course it will help. Maybe not as much as in other vehicles. But its not a waste like american steel would have you believe. If it gets you another 1-2 miles a gallon or 5-10 hp. Its worth it right? Then when you add a CAI or exhaust it will improve things even more! Its all about how you...
Roxy is a good person and resource! Who knows what was going on with him that day. I laugh because I feel the way he does some days. Thankfully I haven't unleashed those feelings on the keyboard. Whatever happens I hope he comes back.
Seems to me someone on here added fender flaress to their first gen. I remember they were from Conneticut and they replaced the rockers as well. If I can find it I'll send the link. You might be able to get the info you need from there!
Roxy...sigh...lol!
Here it is...
So in the past month I moved back to S.E. Michigan, started a new job and am loving it! The Expedition made two trips back and forth from Virginia to Michigan towing trailers without incident. Not bad for a SUV with 245k miles and its original trans. Today I'm doing an oil change, fixing the...
It's a bolt in deal. That's a pretty good price for a used track bar. Insurance companies always take their time. It's part of their job description. Lol.
