Why are Expeditions so much $$ ?

A good chunk of that would be the 'Canadian Premium surtax'. For some reason pretty much all new cars are marked up considerably compared to those South of the border. My Mustang was a solid 9k over and above what they guys in the US were paying, and that was for the exact same car and...

    code retrival without scanner?

Do you happen to have an Android phone with Bluetooth by any chance? I am sure it would work with an apple device as well, I just can't speak to that. But my android had several free apps available. If so, google "bluetooth obd scanner". I picked one up for under $20 delivered to my...

    Flat Tire with 22" wheels.

If the rear diff is open, then different size tires won't hurt (except handling), only with an LSD does it matter - and then they must match or you'll pile up the LSD... I only mention it because I couldn't see any reference to if your truck has a rear LSD or not

Need security ideas to prevent theft = no full coverage

Used to be able to find manual hydraulic locks that one would install into the brake line. Worked kind of like a line lock; a guy would mash the brake pedal, turn the key and then walkaway. The valve would hold the pressure in the brakes lines making it impossible to simply drive away...

    New Interior DONE!!!!

I like that very much, looks really good to me. Now you got me pining for captains seats and console (leather or not...). I've just got that 40/20/40 front bench and the more I drive it, the more I wish for an upgrade... :boxed:

    Tire size calibration

    Which would be: distance measured in inches / ( 3.1415 * Number of tire revolutions) = tire diametre in inches for Example, if a guy travelled 962" with 10 tire rotations: 962 / ( 3.1415 * 10 ) 962 / 31.415 30.622" tire diametre...

    Tire size calibration

Actually, that one would be really easy to do at home (so to speak) without any fancy equipment. Take a friend, a piece of chalk, and a long tape measure to an empty parking lot. Mark a spot on a tire and the ground, and then drive slowly ahead while your friend watches the mark on the...

    Expy or Expo

They both sound, uhhh, bad to me If I want to call it something shorter and easier than Expedition, it's simply 'truck' Either way though, most anything is better than the common nickname for the smaller brother, you know the one...

What did you do to the expy today

Sure, I'll try to snap a pic tonight. Not a whole lot to see though, looks much like the original, just brighter and perhaps not as green. Not dramatically, but noticably... And to be honest, I've noticed more of a difference from the clean bezel than from the brighter lights. hehe

    Lower ball joints

Good question Freeway I will need to do this myself this summer once I can take the truck off the road for a couple weeks (other things to do with it too, not just BJ's... Does anyone have a good write up or how-to on this handy?

    New tires

Indeed, as stoned already mentioned, check the sticker on the door jamb That said, I am going to throw out a guess... 275/60R17, or maybe 265/70R17...

What did you do to the expy today

Nice, I've been eyeballing a set of KC's myself. I'm thinking a nice set of 130w driving for those back road highways. Soooo many deer and moose around here...

Power cord hanging out of my front grill

I might sound like I make light of that snow fall, but after having had opportunity to drive in Southern regions where that has happened, and where it normally doesn't, I know that it's far worse than it looks. While that may look like light snow and no problem to those of us used to that kind...

    Swap to F150 bumper/grill

Well, not those specific pieces, but yes indeed I've thought about it. In fact, I've got a F-150 bumper, grille, grill mount, and valance in the back of my truck right now. Just waiting for warmer weather so I clean up the pieces to swap onto my truck... But then, mine's a Gen 1, so I can't...

Power cord hanging out of my front grill

Bah, we just got that in the last 1/2 hour. Expecting another 2 more inches over night. Still not cold though, only about mid 20's overnight at worst. Not near cold enough to worry about plugging in tonight.

    Black, Chrome, or PTM grille?

Chrome will match any colour paint. But then again, go different, sand it down and throw on a layer of Carbon Fibre cloth and epoxy that sucker together... :D

    SEM Color Match

My point being is that if a parts shop can mix exterior body paint, it seems reasonable that they could likely also do interior paint. It's worth asking them the question...

    SEM Color Match

Busy painting a fender right now, a local parts shop mixed up abatch of paint to match and put it into spray bomb cans for me. I was expecting some crappo brand paint, but was very pleasantly surprised to find they used PPG...

Ahh, the pics didn't show damage to the pillar, just looked like surface fixes. Be sure to keep us posted with pics of your progress. :-)

    Project from hell

So, where's the nightmare part? Looks like you got a pretty decent deal between the two trucks, and from the pics it really doesn't look that bad to me. Yes, definitely some elbow grease and time now, but not much else. you should be able to swap out those panels in a day, so not bad at all :)

What did you do to the expy today

Replaced all the instrument cluster lights and polished up the lens/bezel. Now I will no longer have to guess how fast I am going when I drive at night, or use the flashlight to see if it's time to get gas yet... hehe No, didn't bother with LEDs, just some nice, bright Nighthawk replacement...
