My transmission (~15k miles in a year owning a ‘22 Timberline) has been adequate, but like any auto has problems if you bury or float the pedal. Drive modes help with drive style, like sport mode really does get the shifting for a sport drive!
Big screen, big misses. It’s hard for me to reach...
Only a week since I made the upgrade (295/70R18) and no mods made so far. I’m in a Timberline so already pushing higher power and torque numbers. Overall handling and feel is SO much better, but also what I am used to.
Thanks for the support! I had 325s on my excursion and loved how it just handled basically everything in the way, lol! I’ll be posting to the lifted big tires thread after install. I’m hopeful for how the ride will be on highway trips.
Bummer not a lot of feedback here, but wanting to close the loop. I have ordered 295/70R18 BFG KO3, will have them installed next week. The extra plys on the 305 was too much of a wildcard for feel preference.
I have posted nearly this same thing in the past but with no reply, so I am trying again a little differently (somewhat out of necessity).
Got a sidewall flat today and going to have to replace tires. I have not enjoyed the stock, but they have not been terrible. Previously, I had E rated KO2s...
When you say any bigger…do you mean a 305/70R18 would be too far? Asking because this is what I really want to switch to when the stock tread gets low.
Best of luck if you are servicing at North Bay Ford. They were terrible to work with on our MachE (told my pregnant wife to look up the bus route when they wanted to keep the car overnight ) so we use Watsonville Ford now. They are only a little better, but at least try to work with us when we...
I went with a Timberline because of the HO 3.5 and the off-road capabilities. This meant only short wheelbase which cut down on space for my (same as you) family of 7 but happens to be an increase in payload. Best upgrade I’ve done so far is a Yakima EXO setup. We got up to the mountains for a...
Wondering @LazSlate what wheels and specifically offset of said wheels on your setup? Stock being +39mm, anything between that and +34mm should be close to difference between your 305 and @ak49 295 in stock for width on interior well with anything greater than stock clearing me to the outer...
Has anyone put this size on a stock Timberline? That’s the size I want to land with when I need a new set and am ok to trim a little if necessary. Thanks for any feedback! I’ve searched here a little but only seen 295 width maximum so far.
I have been suffering the same! What I am now trying (with no success so far) is to drive more than 30 min, park at home, engage parking brake, lock upon exit, hope for update…all after doing some reset/feedback shakedown I watched on YouTube. Hasn’t worked, but will have it at the dealer again...
I just recently sold my ‘02 Excursion (for nearly $20k!) to get the ‘22 Timberline. It was solely the fact that a 20 yo vehicle was taking too much of my attention away from my 5 kids. Best part of my Ex was that it parted the seas as described above and towed 10k like nothing was behind her...
I haven’t changed anything on my timberline so far, but I had the below on my 2002 Excursion PSD that I towed often with and they were an amazing combo. Once pads start to fade on the timberline, the links are what I will get.
Slotted Frozen Rotors...

I always find it funny when EVERYONE (including my wife!) believes WD-40 is a lubricant. It helps with squeaky, stuck joints because it cleans out all the junk!
