I use those red and green felt corrosion inhibitors under my post connectors and then spray them with a top coat of battery terminal spray and I have never had corrosion on any terminal. Heavy corrosion only happens if you are leaking a bit of acid, if it's a serviceable batter check the water...
I called 3 shops all around $125, only one shop said they pull the return line and pump the fluid into a bucket until pink. They all use the synthetic Mercon V. I am also thinking of doing this myself so when the pan is off I can install a drain plug so I can change the fluid more regularly.
Since I am not the original owner I wanted to change the fluid as I don't know how it was treated before. I know the prior owner did some towing across the country for a move. The $125 quote was to drop the pan and change the filter and whatever oil is in the pan, it was not a "flush". However...
Anyone do their own transmission oil change? I was thinking of doing it myself as the quotes I'm getting are in the $125 range. I was wondering how difficult the job is and how much oil comes out when you drop the pan. I assume 1/2 or more is in the torque converter that you can't get out. Also...
I had the same situation on my Chevy Tahoe and it turned out to be the control valve in the heater core hose, it was leaking enough to smell but not enough that you wuld notice the loss of coolant. Otherwise I have no other ideas.
I changed the wheels on my 05 and did not put the TPMS valve stems back on, now I get the flashing tire on the dash at start up, flashes 18 times then quits. The dealer told me they are not able to turn that off.....I don't believe them but that is what they tell me.
When I get to the point...
My friend has a 98 with 132,000 on it and the only problem he had was the PATS alarm system, otherwise it's been a perfect car. I have heard about spark plugs getting loose and "blowing out", but I believe if you check them regularly to make sure they are torqued that is not an issue. From what...
My engine has 46,000 on it and I was going to switch to Mobil 1 as I hear good things about their product....and Costco has it on sale $23 for 6 quarts. I went with 5w30 but was ondering if I should have gone with 10w30. Sounds like I will be ok.
Thanks!
The prior owner of my 05 used Penzoil full synthetic 5w30. I have never used full synthetic but was wondering what weight I should use, 5w30 or 10w30? The weather in CA is very mild so temperature extremes are rare.
Do you know if these programming instructions work for a 2005? I don't have any message center on my vehicle, just the regular Ford keyless key fob but I do have the entry buttons on the door as well.
My opinion a guaranteed yes! My last SUV the ride height dropped from stock in the back and the vehicle started bottoming out in dips, I added air bags which solved the problem but clearly they lost their stiffness.
Not sure about the 98 but on my 05 to turn out the dome and door lights I turn the dash dimmer adjustment all the way to the end and it turns out all the lights in the vehicle.
Really needed this holiday weekend, I'm ready to go crazy! Taking my new Expy camping at the beach. Since this is our first trip towing the trailer it will be interesting to see how she does......Enjoy the long weekend everyone!
This totally irritates me as well, I can't figure out why Ford does this! If someone has a way to change this feature it would be greatly appreciated. You know how many times I go to open the rear hatch or rear doors only to have to dig the key fob out of my pocket and hit the button again...
I sprayed mine with an inexpensive satin black paint from Home Depot. When I detail the truck after washing I spray the wheel well with tire shine and it looks pretty good for a few weeks, also no dirt seems to stick to it.
I have noticed several squeeks and rattles in my Expy as well. The one that bothers me the most seems to be coming from the dashboard under the pass side air bag and it only happens above 60 on the freeway. All I can say is have a passenger ride with you and grab things and see if the source of...
