I'm going to guess it could leave you stranded. :D When you least need to be stranded....
That looks like the right part, but I'm sure you could get it at Oreilly or AZ....
You might also check ROCK AUTO they are a forum sponsor.
I was actually thinking you should check where the wires/cables attach to the starter. They are held on with nuts. Mine had a plastic cover on them that just pulls off.
If you jack up the passenger side it's relatively easy to get at.
If you take the wires off and clean them up, put some...
Here's the neutral safety switch.
That's the transmission pan. I believe it's the drivers side.
Check out this thread too: http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t815_ds542200
Just to rule out getting lucky with the back glass and the neutral safety.
You should confirm you are not hearing the firewall mounted solenoid that feeds power to the starter. It is on the passenger side of the firewall near the fender. Have someone crank it while you listen in that area.
If...
Jack the front end up and see if you can wiggle the wheel in ALL directions. If so....I suspect it's the front wheel bearing assembly based on your description.. It's a relatively easy fix. When my drivers side one was bad I was amazed at how much it would move....like the whole wheel was loose...
I just moved the console back, didn't take it out. There are Two TORX Screws that hold in the cup holders and front storage area. Once that is out, there are TWO 8mm screws under there (down in deep holes) that hold down the console. There are two more 8mm screws under round covers on the side...
Nice. This is basically what I did all summer. With my flap door cut in the box I could just drop the glovebox door down, pull out the flap and move the door. The only problem I had by not using a wedge, you had to always use the Air on MAX AC or the door would move back. Wasn't a problem in...
I wanted to post here since I have a Navigator too.
Earlier this summer mine stopped blowing cold but the AC was fully charged and functioning. For a while it was blowing COOL out the drivers side and warmer out the passenger side. Then it was nothing but heat, and it's hot in Texas. I was...
Thought I would add....

I was telling a friend about the site and he figured it was a chinese resturant...
I'm going to update this thread. I got the Walker 53273 replacement assembly installed.
One of the manifold studs broke so I ordered the Nickson 17351 Clamp-A-Stud 1 1/4-2 3/4 : Amazon.com : Automotive Clamp-A-Stud from Amazon for delivery tomorrow. Thought about ordering Amazon.com: Truck Stud...
I thought the same thing about the rattling heat shields. There is even a Ford TSB covering 97-99 Expeditions(and a ton of other Fords) about putting "Worm Clamps to secure the rattling heat shield" - Here's the TSB : http://www.drive9.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/11/98-20-10.pdf
I went to two...
Looks like it could be the "Rear Main Seal" of the engine leaking into the bellhousing...
Probably not a cheap repair.
I'm also asuming that IS oil by the black color. It could be really dirty transmission fluid?
I was pretty sure when I went in there I wasn't using them....I had already searched out parts. But, I wanted an opinion, and if he had a reasonable price I probably would have used them.
