2022 Limited Max - can’t handle the bumps?

I'm sure I've commented before. 22" just don't have enough sidewall. I'm looking forward to putting my 18" winters on in a few weeks, it's like driving on clouds.

    2024 Expedition 303A Stealth

I'll be patient, so long as Ford doesn't follow FCA/Stellantis' plan. ...I'm looking at you Ram "classic". Why won't you go away?

    Sync 4A Update Poll

I didn't notice an update and nothing shows in the update menu, but... Today I noticed that half of the display functions in the driver cluster are missing, no turbo gauge, no trailer lights indicator, no power distribution, oil life, no off-road screen. Anyone else notice after a recent update?

    Sun roof rattle, yes again

@js1990 how did you fix the handle rattle? Maybe I can cheer you up, here in the great white north a 304a Max is north of 100k

    Sun roof rattle, yes again

@js1990 I almost always pop the sunroof to make the rattle stop. All the rattles are driving me crazy.

    Sunroof rattle - clatter

@ibrahimarab I just asked my mechanic to fix my sunroof and mentioned that I'd seen a TSB for pre 2022 models.

Time for new tires, thinking maybe wheels to

I have a Max 304A and run 20s in the winter. Honestly I prefer the ride on the 20s and don't feel like I've sacrificed much in handling. Most dedicated wheel/tire shops do rim test fittings (box stores don't). I've even had my shop mount a tire for me when I asked nicely.

At what point do you have a case with Ford that your vehicle is junk? (no lemon law in Canada)

Best bet is to work with your dealer and the regional Ford rep. Maybe work out a deal for a new vehicle if your burning through the warranty. I did that with my 2010 Dodge Challenger. I needed the full front end to be dismantled and the hours paid by the manufacturer were really low. Dealer made...

    Sunroof rattle - clatter

@ibrahimarab just FYI there is no permanent fix. TSB is for greasing the seals which will wear off over time.

Pro Trailer backup assist will not stay turned off

I've been getting a regular prompt to select the active trailer even though there isn't a trailer connected. It started a few weeks ago after disconnecting my TT. I wonder if it's related to your issue.

    Musty A/C Smell

Well for what it's worth this is the first vehicle that has suffered from mildew in the AC system. I was hoping running the system hot in the winter/fall would kill it but a quick Google search says I'd have to exceed 60°C. I'll have to see if I can find someone with an Ozone generator like...

    Tailgate kick release

@sjwhiteley it's a must have feature. I remember how amazed I was when a friend opened the rear hatch on their parents Lexus in the early 2000s. It was like science fiction.

    Tailgate kick release

If the system is inconsistent try using a straight kick under the center of the bumper. Dealer told me side to side movement isn't registered by the sensor. My only struggle is opening the hatch when my hitch is installed.

    Sun roof rattle, yes again

Just some adhesive weather stripping from HD on top of the factory installed foam.

    Sun roof rattle, yes again

It was something from DuPont Krytox not sure which one Ford specifies. It lasted about a year. Now just to convince my dealer to reapply yearly at no charge.

    Timberline BlueCruise Icon

This solves the mystery and explains why I only see the icon when I'm on major highways.

    Sun roof rattle, yes again

The "grease" officially wore off and all the glorious rattle, popping, creaking from the sunroof is back. On the plus side the foam I added between the plastic trim and the sunroof frame quieted at least one rattle. I'm pretty fed up and would trade the Expy if I wasn't going to loose my shirt...

What Have You Done to Your 4th Gen This Week?

Update; got 4 new tires installed and couldn't be happier. The Continental Cross Contact are like driving on a cloud compared to the General Grabbers. Highly recommend for the 22" wheels.

2022 Timberline Stock Tire Issues - Recommendation For New Tire Type?

Not Timberline but for highway driving I'm really happy with the Continental Cross Contact I installed last week. Road noise and bump absorption is significantly better than the General Grabbers.

What Have You Done to Your 4th Gen This Week?

This week I decided I should replace the OEM tires, and get a new paint job on the rear driver's side door and quarter panel. So I found a nice cable lying in the middle of the highway, sank it into the rear left tire and took it for a whirl /s

    Platinum trim level?

Just need to watch out for the COVID builds. I originally ordered a 2022 Platinum and by the time Ford picked up the order they were shipping with regular limited seats. Switched for a 304 but on the long trips I still dream of the massaging seats.

    Door Locked (But Apparently Not)

Is it intermittent? If so it might be that the back glass hatch isn't closed. This happens to me and prevents the car from properly locking. I had the same issue on a previous car and it was the door latch mechanism that wasn't moving freely. Plunger would go down but the lock wouldn't engage...

Spare tire questions from a Ford noob

I too got to test out my spare this weekend. Can confirm there is no TPMS, tire is not perfectly balanced but very usable. Towed a few hundred KM without issue. Glad to have a spare and not repair kit like most cars these days. Mine is a Crosswind 275/65/R18 A/T

cushion between the 2nd row seating

I was able to order both Expy and Nav with bench in any trim (Canada). Expy SPP showed up first. I had also ordered an Expy Platinum Max and a Nav reserve black extended. Around my parts a bench seat is as rare as an Expy or Nav being ordered Ina colour other than white or black

    Wondering Steering

I might just be going mad. Looking for ideas when I speak to the mechanic next week. Just finished several long trips and find that my arms are exhausted from fighting the steering wheel. It feels like I need to put slight input to counter drift and after a few seconds the steering goes light...
