    Fuel pump sounds The fuel pump should make a distinct whining noise maybe like some older dvd players getting up to speed. Like a desktop pc booting up or a small electric motor in a child's toy. It's building up pressure at the tank and at the injectors.

    Oh yes there is. It seems to be a common weakness for a lot of Expy's. Do a search on here for it under "blend door" or similar. There are some other problems relatively minor though annoying with motors for rear air ducts it seems as well. I have been real lucky it seems over ten years.

    What a headache. Is it just me but to pay top dollar for parts, not on hand and parts that you could reasonably need not in stock. I can see, say, not having a fuel tank on hand but no cooling lines for a stock gearbox?

    If the Expedition had the following engine options, which would you choose?

    Diesel may cost more at the pump but it is a whole lot cheaper to operate in the long run. Would you pay an extra 20 cents per gallon at the pump for 50 percent better mileage? Diesel engines also have fewer moving parts.

    There is one big thing I miss from my Suburbans of past. That was the "Dutch Doors" on the rear. They were the absolute best for loading the rear cargo area. The Excursion came close with a half dutch door with a lift gate rear window.
