The best part about where I am at and being a white guy that speaks spanish (my wife is from Mexico), is that when ever they start talking crap about me in spanish I just watch them with a smile on my face and when they are finished I rip them a new ass hole in spanish.
There jaw hits the...
I left the shift points alone, but I do recomend increasing the SHIFT PRESSURE it makes a world of difference in the feel of the truck. It gets rid of those soft "car like" shifts so not only does it feel better, but your trans will thank you in the end as well since it is not slipping each...
Another thing you should do since you said that the truck has been sitting for a year, is change out your fuel filter and add in a good fuel stabalizer or octance boost and some injector cleaner.
With the fuel sitting for that long I can only imagine how varnished that fuel is. The fuel...
The 2 peice Motocrafts that have been known to break are in the newer 3v motors. All of us with the first gen 2v motors do not have to worry about that, all we have to worry about is the plug "spitting" (poping out).
Just make sure to keep the Anti-seize to a minimum. There are a LOT of different ways people on the net say to do the plugs. I used a very small amount of Copper coat Anti-seize and also Torqued the plugs to 26 FT LBS (I have put 5k on them and no problems).
There are 2 main ways these...
You can try unhooking the battery for overnight that way the computer will relearn the shift stratagy, and if that does not work then take it to Ford so they can "reflash" the computer. Seems to be a pretty common issue on the newer Expy's but easily fixed.
Your truck probably came stock with the DG-473's but the cross reference replacement on them is the DG-508 most all first gen triton 2v motors (at least in the trucks) use the 508's.
As for plugs I recomend the Motorcrafts, but I belive there are quite a few people on here like Walnuts that...
With my edge I run it on level 3 with premium and as far as adjusting settings all I changed on mine was the shift firmness, I put the firmness up by 15% on all shifts and it made a huge difference. If you are crusing around town sometimes you can feel it but it is just a really quick shift...
Since the issues started after changing the fluid there is a good chance that the tranny is gone. When the trans has higher miles on it and if the fluid has not been changed regularly then sometimes new fluid will do this to a trans. The new fluid has cleaning compounds in it that will remove...
Yeah, even thou the light is not coming on does not mean there are not codes present.
If the light does not come on when you just turn the key to the ON position then there is a problem with the bulb ( key on engine off the CEL should always be light until the engine is started).
If I...
Not necesarily.
These are computer controlled transmissions and have a shift solenoid pack that contains 6 ELECTRONIC SHIFT SOLENOIDS which could cause the issue.
It could even be as easy as the filter was not installed corectly, or that the rubber o-ring from the old filter was not...
He is correct in the fact that you will always find a film of metal on the pan magnet and that is normal for ANY automatic trans even if it is working perfect. It is just nature of the beast with ANY automatic transmission since it uses steel plates along with a semi metalic friction disc...
????????????????? If you try to run it with all of the cats gutted the computer freaks because the o2 sensors are not sensing a change between the 2 sensors on each bank.
On the Expedition ( and most all newer vehicles ) they are equipped with 4 o2 sensors ( 2 infront of cats and 2 behind )...
In order to dignose to the full extent you really should leave the batt hooked up. If you can keep it running long enough I am sure that you will get a CEL but everytime you unhook the batt (after running it) if there are any "soft" codes (meaning no CEL yet ) then you are loosing them. The...
If you have that large cooler on the passanger side then I am pretty positive that you have the factory HD tow package. So all of the weights from above would be the max weights that your expy can handle.
The only thing that I belive you would not be happy with is the ride. LT rated tires get there load carry capacity from high tire pressure ( aprox 80psi ) if you run them lower than they will carry NO more than the P rated tires.
The reason the ride will get "rougher" is because of that high...
Exactly a solid CEL is a Hard code that could be caused by anything but the Blinking CEL is a Random Misfire (could be 1 or more cylinders). You can get a solid CEL from a misfire as well but it would be a constant missfire meaning the coil is dead!
If you have the 7 pin plug at the back then you very well may have the HD tow package. If you look in front of the radiator ( thru the grille ) you will see a small cooler on the drivers side which is your power steering cooler, and if you do have the tow package then you will see another...
Unfortunatly if you want any "real" amount of lift you will need to use the spacer systems since your year Expy runs independent suspension.
Here is a link to a few different brands from Rocky Mountain Suspension:

They have a 3"...
