well they are backordered on chips for at least another month. Long story but the supplier that supplies chips to almost every chip company is having trouble getting supply of some of the parts of the chip.
There are plenty of flash programmers available so I can already do those no problem...
If I were to start all over again or suggest an order of upgrades I would do.....
1. Performance Chip or Programmer that can accomodate later modifications. Custom tunes are nice too if the tuner knows how to change the sloppy/ill timed shifting these trucks have stock.
2. Some type of intake...
where are you located? maybe someone will buy it as is. You could save alot of money by not having it done at a dealarship. Rebuilt heads for the 5.4 could be had for about 450 a piece or less on ebay or from bulk rebuilders.....

not sure... it depends on the problem. If it is truly a transmission problem then you should get it looked at ASAP. On some issues the longer you wait the more damage will be done and the more it will cost to fix once it starts damaging hard parts.....
Did you check the basics like fluid...
you are more than likely experiencing what is known as a downshift flare that can be caused by a lot of things in the trans. Instead of catching the gear below when the downshift occurs the trans is releasing the clutch packs of the higher gear and not grabbing the proper clutches for the lower...
Not where the selector is but what gear the truck was in before the downshift occured. If you can't tell try turning off the OD anc see if it will still do it. What speed were you going when you try to pass?
What gear were you in before the downshift? Do you have the 4R70W or 4R100 transmission in the truck? Did this just start out of the blue or after a modification of some kind?

i wouldn't use them in the south without going to electric fans. They just don't turn the water pump/fan fast enough at idle for those hot summers. The electric fans like the huge ones from Flex a Lite with the variable speeds would give more of a gain than the underdrive pullies driving the...
They have proven that 5w20 increased wear 30% over 5w30. Ford went to the 20 to get an extra 2 tenths of a mile to the gallon to meed their cafe standards. The 03 doesh't have variable cam timing anyway, but it doesn't screw with that either. The 3 valve motors that have the variable timing...
There is no question that the explorer will get better mileage since it is a lighter vehicle, but you give up the space of the exped. The new trans setup in the expedition should make an improvement in the mileage over the 06 expedition.

I found something interesting in the 03 exped calibration on the 5.4 motors. It seems that they didn't change the knock sensor calibraiton for the new "low NVH" engine block they started using in 03. Without going into great details about why it needed to change all i can say is WOW what a...
Have you guys seen the kind of stupid power they are making with the stock bottom end of the new 3v mustangs...... A sure testiment to how well the cast pistons stock rods hold up if you keep the thing out of detonation.

I don't know about the 05 and newer expeds but the 03 and 04 have a mechanical returnless fuel system that always supplies the injectors with somewhere around 60lbs of pressure with no reference to vacuum or boost. This doess present problems so the best course of action is bigger injectors. I...
send a pic.... chances are it isn't a true cold air kit if it is just sucking hot air from under the hood and ot sealing itself to the factory opeing in the fender.
As long as it dries clean and doesn't contain a lubricant you will be just fine. Sometimes contact cleaners have a lube for cleaning motor contactors. Just spray some on your fingers and see if it leaves an oily film..... no oily film means good to go!

The ones i have seen do this were the temperature door. I guess the same thing can happen with the floor/ceiling door as well.
On yours when you select floor or ceiling it doesn't stop momentairily? If you cycle it a few times it might just reailgn itself.
I use electric motor cleaner which is the same as brake cleaner in most cases. The little wires in the center of the meter are the sensing elements. Just be careful not to bend or break them by touching them very hard.

The setting that gets changed by the special forces software is the amount of shift pressure that the computer commands when upshifting. In most cases this is actually better for the transmission because it doesn't take as long for the shift to complete, thus saving clutch material.
