nope... there isn't a position sensor on the IAC.... The computer just tells it what to do and doesn't know if it is really doing it or not..... The computer can detect a shorted or open winding in the magnetic coil that drives the valve but that's it.
The symptoms are stalling when cold...
Elvato, yours is attached to the fuel tank on the outside..... i knocked mine off once when i hit a cardboard box on the freeway..... still working on getting some kind of skid plate for the fuel tank....

It could also be your IAC. It is a little valve that allows air to bypass the throttle body so the computer can regulate the idle speed. These are notorious for getting gunked up or just plain wearing out.

um.... the tornado sound is probably the engine driven fan engaging. It does pull down on the power quite a bit and makes a hell of a noise. This is very normal in warm weather, the design of the fan clutches also will do the same thing when cold because the silicone fluid inside them gets too...
Timesert has an even better one that is installed during a head rebuild that goes in from the bottom. I think ford should have built them like that to begin with..... There are rumors that the PI heads that came out in late 2003 have fully threaded plug holes. I might try to find me a set of...
it could even be a little drivetrain slack somewhere that is normal and you might be hearing the transmission downshifting when coming back to idle. This is pretty common on a 4x4 since there will be a little bit more slack becasue of the transfer case. If it always happens at the same speed I...
check and make sure there hasn't been any change that fell into the lighter socket.... You'll have to find the short unless it is just the lighter socket itself that is bad....
I am curious to see what the code is..... it could be a misfire relating to a tune-up issue that only rears its...
I think Sniper had some growing pains for a while but they are alot cheaper for a tuner to get started across multiple platforms....
The Delta Force software is what I use and is very user friendly and You get access to all the parameters unlike SCT where you have to be on SCT's perferred...
well.... I am impressed with what sniper has to offer and I get access to all the parameters so I don't know what you are talking about....
it was also much cheaper to get started with sniper and their customer service is awesome.

yes, with most programmers once you put the stock file back on the truck (un-program the truck) the programmer is free to be used on another vehicle. SCT once upon a time would unlock a programmer for a fee but I don't think they do anymore. They and others would rather just sell another...
look up "Piston Slap" this is very common. It could also be an exhaust leak that closes up once the parts get hot. Take a good quality audio recording inside and outside and post it for us to hear...

i would make sure and blow compressed air into the hole to get any dirt out before pulling the plugs. I go a step further and fill the holes with brake cleaner then blow out with compressed air followed by a little penetrating oil to soak for 20 minutes to make sure the plugs come out...
it shouldn't knock at idle even if it has a performance program. If it is a spark knock at idle then something is wrong. Does it do it worse when it the engine is cold?
Matt R
you usually have to find the truck that the tuner is married to and put it back to stock before the programmer is available for use again on another vehicle. Sniper does it a little different you can program many vehicles by purchasing "bullets" for each vehicle alot cheaper than buying the...
That's a pretty good deal. I write custom programs...... but for 200 bucks that one is a pretty good deal. Programming for premium lets you take advantage of the better octane, otherwise there won't be a performance increase with the better fuel.
Matt R
did you reprogram for the premium? If not you aren't getting the full benefit of the good stuff. You would pick up some mileage that would offset the cost of the premium fuel....
