Does my transfer case have a chain? (1999 Eddie Bauer)

I'm sorry, I'm still confused. you removed the driveshaft, and the problem went away. did you put the driveshaft back, and the problem was still gone? or is the driveshaft still out, but you intend to put it back and believe the problem will reoccur?

    NEED PERFORMANCE UPGRADE ADVICE

so where are these numbers? I've seen many such posts that insist there are numbers, but it's always somebody else that has them. I have searched the forum.

    NEED PERFORMANCE UPGRADE ADVICE

my 2cents: I've seen little hard evidence that either the Gotts mod, a CAI or efans, pulleys, etc. make any significant difference. lots of stories, but no actual numbers. These may be helpful as part of a completely integrated design, but I would not waste time with stand alone aftermarket...

Purchase help needed! 4x4 vs 4x2 ... and platinum vs Limited 302a

I would recommend getting the 4WD. I have to agree that a careful and skilled driver can go without it more often than not (I definitely recommend a locker, though). I spent more than 3 decades offroading in the Army; it just wasn't all that frequent that I had to lock the hubs - part of route...

Does my transfer case have a chain? (1999 Eddie Bauer)

"...I removed the front driveshaft, which temporarily fixed it." so you're saying it started grinding, etc. again after a short while without the front shaft; even with the shaft removed?

    SCT Tuner review

Hall- a - fricking loo ya!!!! SCT support is heard from. here's their answer: "Hello, Thanks for contacting support. We do not offer a 93 Perf or 93 Eco tune on our of our devices preloaded. If that is what you are seeing than those are custom tunes. You would want to speak with whoever made you...

    SCT Tuner review

I tried to edit the screenshots in my last post, to comment on each one, but the available edit screen makes it impossible to know which picture is which in edit mode. so here are my comments; sorry for the clumsiness of this process. I appreciate everyone's time who took time to help out...

    K&N Air Filter

you are absolutely correct. I should have said that I know the theory is correct. In fact, I think there was a Chevy that pulled in air from the base of the windshield because it was cooler, and denser, for that exact reason. However, as you said, pulling air from the engine bay, as so many do...

the aforementioned tuner is running a 93 perf tune. Can someone tell me how to switch it to a 93 economy tune? thanks jg PS, yes, I have RTFM. i have to say SCT's documentation and support efforts are ineffective. their documentation is a joke, and their "support" is correctly spelled with...

How much was it new? Dealing with an insurance claim...

the one time this happened to me, this is the advice I got from a police officer friend: "Find a local comparable replacement. that is, if you bought a car just like yours right before the accident, what would it cost you? compare miles, condition, etc. 'as close to yours as possible' is the...

    Stupid deer...

i hit a deer a few years ago in an F150. i had a grill guard on it and to my amazement, my truck had no damage at all, and the grill guard was bent in about an inch. I never would have believed the damn thing would provide that much protection if I hadn't seen it.

Which Tune? MPT vs Livernois vs 5 Star vs Unleashed

I looked at HPTuners, and I agree it is a far more advanced, and aggressive, tuner than anything else I saw. I did not choose it because I thought it was a good way for me to get in over my head, especially because the interface looked less than user friendly to me. I am not a mechanic, I am a...

Which Tune? MPT vs Livernois vs 5 Star vs Unleashed

I just got an SCT Livewire TS+ tuner. still on the first tank of 87 octane gas with the performance tune and upped the shift firmness ++. I'm curious why SCT isn't mentioned here. is it a generational thing? I'm running this on a 2nd Gen motor.

    SCT Tuner review

I’m getting better with the screen, but it is a learning curve. I have, since installation, driven over 30 miles, almost all highway in heavy traffic. At install, we set the 87 octane performance tune and plussed up the shift performance one click... i think it was one. Anyway, the point is...

    SCT Tuner review

To catch everyone up: Besides the tuner, the truck has new 285/70/17 tires, and I changed the oil to Royal Purple 5W30. I wanted 5W20 HMX, but they didn’t have it. I also put a K&N air filter on it. It will not be getting a CAI, gotts mod, or eFans. I hope to put a shorty header full dual...

    SCT Tuner review

I just got my new tuner installed! Hoo ah! First, let me say I am grateful i had it installed at the store.
