nobody denies it. if somebody said otherwise, please name them.
The question is HOW MUCH BETTER? Is it worth what it costs? What is the evidence for more power, more mileage, more anything as a result of the Gotts mod or a CAI?
I'm going to make the wild assumption that the dealership can be trusted to install an engine. Hell, if I can do it, they should be able to.
HOWEVER...
I'd take it elsewhere for a second opinion on the need for an engine, preferably someone who isn't going to make thousands selling you an engine.
For the record, i did call “asshats” referring to posts about stuck spark plugs that begin with “”loosen it a 1/4 turn”.
Apparently stuck doesn’t mean actually stuck in their experience.
Here are three replacements for the Ford two-piece booby trap.
FWIW, it took forever to find this - i went through almost a dozen stories about the dreaded POS plug; all talked about the problems with the two piece design, and NOT ONE mentioned a replacement.
I saw several articles talking...
I should have said the 33.8 tires take me to 10” total ground clearance, up from the OEM 8.9”. But, that’s calculated - i have yet to crawl underneath with a tape measure.
TJ, thanks for your help - I’m particularly interested in power and torque increase in the under 3k band.
I would very much appreciate hearing from you about those mods, especially for torque.
Thanks for your time.

i got 34" on mine totally stock. 285/75/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers, 33.8"
it's a 4x4 SSV, so it might have already had some lift on it from the police suspension.
sorry about the delay.
from what I've seen here, there are things that can be done. first, though, understand there is no silver bullet. all of these are incremental power adds and will require a tuner, with a custom tune, to get them all working together to maximize the power of what you paid...
Beware the spark plugs. I would not buy one with the stupid two piece plugs - i’d look for evidence they had already been replaced.
I got a car fax with mine showing the sparkplug replacement.
Yankum, amazon... everything. you’re right about the industry straps; i wanted to know more about their suitability. I used to do recovery in the army; the boom for a tank would outweigh smaller vehicles, like the old jeep. But we did not use kinetic recovery.
if the car starts, i wouldn't pull the starter. whoever told you that is just silly. i wouldn't even pull it for a bench test.
if you had to replace the alternator, then you should get the battery checked. a bad alternator can kill a battery. not just run it down, but actually kill it. if it...
very good point. it simply never occurred to me. but thanks, you've been by far the most informative so far. not that it was a high bar... at least you actually read the question.
Making the wild assumption that your numbers are going to be a general approximation across the board, that tells...
