Looking underneath my truck right now though it looks to have 4 O2 sensors and only 2 cats... Up near the flange to connects to the manifold it has an O2 sensor on each side then further back it has 2 cats (one on each side) and those have O2 sensors plugging into them.. Maybe it isn't actually...
Hi guys,
Figured I'd just start a new thread on this.
I'm trying to build/buy a new exhaust for my 2006 5.4 3v. I had a magnaflow catback with stock cats and headers on my previous 03 and it sounded pretty good.
I'm looking to probably get the same magnaflow catback for my 06 but after that...
Heavyweight oil or adding Lucas to the oil will really only mask the issue it gets rid of the noise but not the problem basically.. But good luck brother!

Just playing with the expy today not dining much to it.. But I did help a buddy of mine put a nameless "3.5 pipe on his '13 WRX.... The sound is incredible on these little cars lol

VCT solenoids and a full synthetic oil change helped mine A LOT I would total recommend that to anyone thinking they're having phaser troubles

Apologize as well for thread jacking... but I got them from a seller on amazon, seller is called "Auto Dynasty" they were the last set they had with clear markers as my buddy in Ohio got the set before me lol
I'll attach a link so maybe you could contact the seller and see if they can get...
I am pretty certain that any auto parts store will have on that is mostly universal for almost all Fords... Basically just tell them what you drive and they'll have the right product for you and they're only like $6 nothing special... I'd tell you the size of ours but it doesn't say it on it, my...
VCTs weren't too bad in mine but it was running like serious crap I think my main issue was that only 2 quarts of oil going through the motor dried out my VCTs and they couldn't work properly but, it is definitely a repair or PM I recommend. When the do go bad I have heard, first-hand, how bad...
Expy has been sitting for almost 3 weeks now as I've been able to take my work van home... Feels pretty good keeping miles off it and it still runs great with the new repairs and oil... Will be hopefully getting it out for real this weekend for some actual mileage

You might be right, I'm not really sure about it personally but I am really digging this Mobil 1 it feels great I'll be driving it over 300-400 miles this weekend for the first time since I had the VCT issues so I'm sure I'll be able to speculate a bit more after that

Hey nbpace,
Yes you are correct no phaser on the 2003-2004 Expeditions.
Think it's like a EGR system or something I don't really know but you won't have the chain/phaser issues on the 2V 5.4L

Motorcraft brand... Got them on eBay for around $130 and they also came with the seals. Very well rated seller so nothing to worry about. I'll attach a link

Wow that's pretty awesome to see a Expy towing that much! You pics make me wonder how my 06 would look towing 6300lbs with the leveling kit that's on it lol

I may give either Amsoil or Royal Purple a try at the time of my next change although so far the Mobil 1 is feeling great!
I will say though that I will never be putting conventional oil in the Expy ever again that stuff burns like sawdust.

Well guys sorry for posting so late (those of you in EST).
I finished the VCT solenoids this afternoon and checked oil levels and it appears we are good to go! The Expy is running smooth and is holding proper oil pressure again.
The old VCT solenoids were really not that bad at all and IMO...
A buddy of mine swears by royal purple as well.. Says it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, if I wasn't about to buy Mobil for some reason I would for sure go with Royal purp

Nice! Yeah I loved seeing that Mobil 1 go into my expy I could just hear the trucks sigh of relief "figuratively" lol

In my opinion they seem to be able the same from the amount of research I've been doing lately.
Personally (although more expensive) I'm going to go with the Mobil 1 full synthetic with synthetic filters on my 2006 from now on it already seems to have made the expy tin stronger and my buddy...
