    Size Matters

Had a friend ship a 2021 max in a 20 foot cargo container to Norway. It was a tight fit, and the HD foam he custom cut and used to protect it appeared to work, or so I was told. My question back to you, as was my question to my friend is a simple one, why not use a roll on, roll off shipper...

Knocking sound under rear of 2021expedition STX

Have you checked the sway bar end links, both when under load, and completely unloaded (IE: Rear tires off the ground)? Have you checked the rear shocks under compression, and otherwise? Have the rear wheels, or the wheels on the trailer been off recently? While sitting still, and under...

2022 King Ranch Max on Dealer Lot Video

Just saw a new 2022 Limited yesterday while in Charlotte, the front end actually looks better in person than in pictures, gives it a cleaner, refreshed look vs the earlier, 2021's. The older dash absolutely needed a refresh, not really crazy about the "Ipad" looking center tablet, but I'm sure...

    2022 production status

Refunds of deposits depend on how the contract was written, in your case, I'd call the dealership and explain you have yet to receive a VIN to track your order and you are going to take your chances with dealer inventory as it comes in. Ask nicely for your deposit back, then go from there. Now...

Any idea what does HD tow package do for 22 timberline?

Why bother to go through all that, spend additional money on a brake controller (Ford over the counter or otherwise), $500-$1,000 for custom tuning, when the retail price for the Ford HD towing package is only $795.00 Why piecemeal the parts together over the counter, at a cost twice that of the...

    2022 production status

Here are shots of the Black leather with Sandstone upper on my 2010 Explorer XLT, it's really not a bad combination, took me a day to get over the fact is was not black on black.

Any idea what does HD tow package do for 22 timberline?

Looked at the Ford parts website this AM, there is a component kit that lists out at $1,7xx that is part of the HD towing package, and while not specifically listed (my understanding is there are 30-35 different parts included in the package that get installed, how big or small is unknown at this...

    2022 Expedition - Schedule for production ?

Just an FYI, it is my understanding, from speaking with a friend in Dearborn, that there is little to no Expedition or Super Duty production scheduled for this week. As explained to me this weekend, this is due to the chip shortage issues plaguing the industry as a whole. Still no VIN assigned...

    Rivets in roof

I too have a 2022 on order, so it will be interesting to read what they have to say. Maybe ask them about the potential of long term galvanic action issues using the RSW. Will be curious to hear their thoughts. Bill PS: Rapid City

    Rivets in roof

I humbly stand corrected, but still cannot fathom why the spot welds show on the inner panels with the interior roof trim removed on the vehicles I posted about earlier. To pay it safe on my end, I've got a call out to an acquaintance who works at the stamping plant. If anything different comes...

    Rivets in roof

I have the same on my old 2000 Expedition, and my 2010 Ford Explorer as well (having had the roof liner off on both in the past and being able to see the actual body bonding technique), no rivets used, sorry, what is shown in spot welds. Self piercing rivets require a sealer to be used to finish...

    Rivets in roof

As the retired body shop owner here, I can assure you, the panels in question (not all, but the roof panel to side panel) are originally resistance spot welded (RSW), and not self piercing rivets from the factory. During impact repairs, Ford does advise to use self piercing pop rivets, along...

    Rivets in roof

Those are not rivets, but the area where the two panels are joined via spot welds. That is what you are seeing, and if you look at panels adjoined to one another, you'll find them all over the unibody portion of the Expedition. Bill

    2022 production status

Interesting, it's been 3 years since I had access to this information, but maybe they changed the coding and are using PC1 as a holding group awaiting supply chain backorders. If anyone has current access to the system, I'd love to know what the story is. Bill

    2022 production status

PC2 is the lowest actual valid code that is in the system these days for retail/wholesale. PC1 is for Ford internal/show vehicles Or so I have been told by folks that would know. Bill

    2022 Expedition vs 2018-20221

    XL Fleet

Some fleet dealers will sell to the general public, others will not. Your best bet is to contact the dealer directly and ask not only about the potential sale, but the configuration they have on the lot as inventory can change in 5 minutes vs what you see on the website. Bill

My 2022 Expedition Limited Max is BUILT!!!

Sequential number has to do with internal VIN assignment to an order, but does not guarantee that they are built in the actual sequential order. Again, if there are parts needed to finish a specific build that are on back order, that VIN will be placed in a holding "QUE" until such time as all...

My 2022 Expedition Limited Max is BUILT!!!

For a production assembly line to work: Parts in stock for a specific build, or set of specific builds. Inventory in place, then it's just a matter of scheduling enough of them to profitably run the assembly line for each shift called in. It really is that simple Bill PS: Regardless of what...

How Much Money (& Time Delay) to Delete Green Interior from '22 Timberline Expedition?

I would not recommend gluing a set cover on. Instead, I'd suggest finding a local upholstery shop and getting a quote from them to change the seat covers. Pricey yes, but getting what you want, and done right the first time, is priceless. Bill
