Truck lurches forward and stalls when going into forward gear. Sticky TC? Or worse?

Re: Truck lurches forward and stalls when going into forward gear. Sticky TC? Or wors ^^ yeah, that's the access hole alright. t/c may or may not have a drain plug. Check 360 degrees around it and you can turn the motor manually to line the plug up with that hole Sent from my DROID4 using...

Truck lurches forward and stalls when going into forward gear. Sticky TC? Or worse?

Re: Truck lurches forward and stalls when going into forward gear. Sticky TC? Or wors I've had a tranny with the T/C stuck in lock up. Exact same symptoms. Had to replace the solenoid that controlled lockup. That was a GM. I'm not familiar with the specifics of the tranny that's mated to the...

    97 Eddie Bauer AWD

Tod relies on input from the propeller shaft sensors in the t-case. Not the abs sensors. That being said, EVEN if the gem was interpreting slip due to erroneous data from one of the hall sensors, I don't see how that would cause the vehicle to shake. In auto 4wd the front axle disconnect is...

    Help with "Brown Wire Mod"

Borg warner built it to last a lifetime. Its a good reliable unit and that's why many manufacturers install them in their vehicles. IIRC BW was developing the auto 4wd system with isuzu in the late 80s. They were originally incorporating a differential between the input and the clutch to allow...

    Help with "Brown Wire Mod"

I think there's some misunderstanding of the a4wd system. I've been reading up for a while between the ford service manual and borg warner literature. The TOD system doesn't measure wheelslip via the abs sensors. There are two output speed sensors mounted on the transfer case. 1 sensor for each...

rear tailgate washer -is there a seperate tank?

I had the same problem. No need to pull down the headliner. The line runs along the door jambs on the passenger side, then up through the c-pillar trim. Remove the rear dome light, remove the trim around the hatch, and pull the headliner down just enough and you'll see a splice in the line. I...

    stopping rust

POR-15 or eastwoods rust encapsulator are excellent for halting corrosion. If its at the bottom of the doorskin it very well might be rusting from the inside out. Make sure any drain holes in the door bottom are not plugged

    Auto engage 4x4

.5mpg... that's another thing to remember the next time I start thinking about that swap. Might not be worth it. What's normal for the 5.4 with the 3.55 axle? I'm getting around 12.5 mpg on average. Down to around 11.8 when we tow. I thought it shoulda been a little better than this. My 472...

    Auto engage 4x4

I like it too, the only downside for me is the lower mpg. I was thinking of doing the brown wire mod and replacing the front diff with an earlier unit that has the center disconnect. I would rip out the vacuum actuator and use one of those manual conversion kits. That way I could have 2wd if I...

    Auto engage 4x4

In a4wd there is always some torque being sent to the front, when slippage at the rear is detected the duty cycle to the trans. case motor is increased, slowing the rear and putting more load on the front. If the duty cycle goes to 100% then I think the 4 high light will come on. Its working...

    Lazy Detail Job

Auto window cleaner works better than household windex. Use terry towels instead of paper towels. One to clean, another to dry. This worked good for me when I got armor all on the windows and also for tobbacco residue.

    How would this look?-pic

I like the idea of doing some of the trim in bedliner. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I don't understand the different color hood thing. Mix and match body panel colors make it look like you replaced something and just don't care to have it painted. But that's just my opinion and you know what...

    P0340 97 Exp 5.4 4x

Yeah. If there's no voltage at the light blue wire, trace it to where it terminates. I don't have fords companion book with wiring diagrams in it, but from looking at the hanes it looks like the light blue feeds off of a grey/red wire from the pcm that also supplies vpwr to other sensors. Try...

    5W30 or 5W20.........

Open loop runs good, closed loop runs bad?

Toms89 Lemme throw this out there...What do you think about too much egr flow? The line going to the sensor with the fixed orifice that measures backpressure/flow (sorry I don't know offhand what its called). If that line is blocked, the pcm will be recieving erroneous data, and the actual egr...
