This is my 07 with a Flowmaster 50 series with single 3" offset in/out welded in place with the factory piping. I would definitely refer to this setup as very mild compared to some of the other exhaust setups I've had on other vehicles. Nice throaty idle and moderate acceleration that you can...
The reason for the large number of times in and out of the oven at short time frames is because of the kind of glue that Ford uses. It doesn't get very soft. It is a form of PermaSeal. Look up some of the retrofits on the new F150s. Biggest complaint is about getting the housings apart unless...
I got the second one finished after work on Saturday. This one only took about 3 hours from start to finish including clean-up.
My impressions - Absolutely amazing. Hard to believe that a simple headlight upgrade can make the difference in feeling like being in a $10k vehicle vs a $40k...
Now that you're this far, this is the point of no return to the land of halogens. You get to cut the mount that the bulb reflector was attached to. Keep the cuts as close to the bowl as you can without hitting it. Be prepared to get dusty. Very dusty. I believe it is ceramic that you're cutting...
Ok... time to talk about what went down last night. I started around 7:30 and finished up on the passenger side and the wiring at about 12:30. I ran into some things I wasn't expecting (gee, when doesn't that happen) and was forced to walk away from it for from time to time.
Let's start with...
TEASERS
I stripped the chrome off of the shrouds and painted them body color. For those that don't already know, Easy-Off Oven Cleaner works pretty fantastic for getting rid of chrome. I sprayed it on a couple times over a period of 45 minutes, rinsed, and no more chrome. Called up my local...
My motorcycle is sold and I paid my A4 off this morning.
That means that I now have a few extra dollars to play with. I called up the guys at The Retrofit Source this morning and have a full Morimoto Mini 6000K kit on its way to me. As per the usual posting, I'll have pictures of the...
You may be able to track down a wiring guide for the wiring going into the console, and bypass whatever the audio may be traveling through right there and save the headache of running new wire into the doors.
So, do you still not have rear sound or did that come back with the installation of the console? If your truck has the RSE (rear seat entertainment) and the controls are on the back of the console, that would definitely affect your rear speakers as the stock wiring goes from the radio into the...
It is possible that someone had gotten a set of the older JBL style speakers and put them in the front. They use to be of that kind of design. In any case, you should be able to remove the whole assembly and have a 5x7/6x8 hole to mount a standard style speaker into.
In my last 3 Ford builds...
Thanks. The process is called hydrographics. You can do it yourself if you want to take the time to learn the process and source all the materials. I was originally going to go this route but was quoted in parts and labor at a shop just a little bit more than it was going to cost me to do it...
I'll see what I can do. I'm almost 100% positive that it'll bolt right in but if I get the opportunity, I'll report back.
EDIT:
I just checked the Ford parts database... it appears that it is the same item number for an 07 that it is for an 05 so... I'd say it's all good.
EDIT EDIT:
Just...
Just in case anyone was still wondering, I took my truck in for the 100k servicing on Monday and they had a 03 Expy in the shop. I took a look and to me it looks like the 3rd brake is pretty damn identical to the 3rd gen light. So... I'd say any of the LED replacements for the 2nd gen should fit...
I was thinking the same thing about the third housings. I also believe that the 03-06 model is the same. Should be fine. Those things are all over the place on eBay.
That being said, I just did LED bulbs in mine since I'm not satisfied with the appearance of any of the aftermarket lighting...
The reason the option is not able to be changed while listening to a source is because it doesn't allow that option on-the-fly. It is standard operation for that option to become functional after the sources are shut off. The proper setting is "Full".
Did you check your fade/balance settings...
I gutted the mirror out of my housing and I'd be happy to send it to you but you would need to have the door that it fits in with the rounded plastics. I'll see if I can dismantle mine again and take pics.
You're welcome. I didn't actually have to cut my puddle lamp housings apart. A good round of prying got them open. I'm sure some heat would help coax them a bit too.
