Has anyone swapped 2015-17 factory projector headlamps (Limited/King Ranch/Platinum) into a 2015-17 XLT? Seems like it would be an easy bolt-in job?
PS I just got a wiring manual for my 2017. Apparently Ford has been selling these trucks in China and those vehicles have some interesting...
Yes there are turn signals in the mirrors (and they are also heated with memory) but you'll find they don't power-fold. That was an upgrade reserved for Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum models.
It mentions "SelectShift (If Equipped)" in the owner's manual but apparently we don't have that -- or, at least we don't have the feature of SelectShift that allows you to force a downshift or upshift using the "+/-" button. That option apparently comes only when there is a letter "S" below "D"...
To be fair, the transmission shift "issue" happens only in very specific circumstances, and from the feedback I've gotten here so far, it seems like it may only be happening to me. LOL But, at least in my truck, the transmission needs to downshift a little more quickly when under load IMO. My...
That's not the functionality I'm looking for. I don't want to completely take over and shift it through every gear like it's a manual transmission. All I wanted was an easy way to force a downshift without flooring it. Apparently that functionality is not available in '15-'17 models. Pressing...
I also wanted something with the lowest miles possible. I tend to keep my vehicles for a very long time (7 years for the last one, 10 years before that). This may be the last truck I ever buy so I wanted it to be as close to "new" as I could get. I couldn't find any 2015 or 2016 models around...
Well, your truck doesn't look "standard" for a 2007 XLT. According to the sales brochure, XLT came with black textured (i.e. unpainted) lower body trim but the wheel arch moldings were painted body color. Eddie Bauer models had "Pueblo Gold" painted wheel arch moldings and lower body trim...
I believe the trim codes are on the label just behind and below the front door opening. Interesting that you have a 2-tone paint scheme? I've only seen that on Eddie Bauer and XLT Premium trucks, and the contrast color was always a medium brown.
I would agree and am watching this thread. I just got a '17 with the Sony system. The mid-range sounds very "muddy" to my ear. I think the door speakers need replacing at a minimum. Ford made a THX rated center channel speaker for the Navigator along with THX speakers for the rear "D" pillars...
It's called a "Body Side Molding." I'm pretty sure all these trim moldings are sold with black primer applied, ready to paint. They don't list different part numbers for different colors...
According to the owner's manual, 2018 Expeditions apparently do have a "4H" option, but there's no button for it and it's not clear how it's activated. 2018 Expeditions with 4WD that don't have the Heavy-Duty Tow package get "2H" and "4A" buttons on the console. HD Tow comes with an "electronic...
OK, just got my 2017 wiring manual. There is no camera as part of the rain sense system -- just the rain sensor. Guessing the mirror "with camera" must be one that has a video display screen for the rear view camera option for vehicles that don't have either a 4-inch or an 8-inch center dash...
Thanks Andy! I think I may have found the answer in the owner's manual under "SelectShift Automatic Transmission." Apparently, it works two different ways. First, if you press the "+" button on the shifter, it becomes "semi automatic" like using the paddle shifters on the Explorer. Once this...
Unfortunately, like sjwelds said the oil pressure gauge isn't a real, functioning gauge. It is indeed a fancy looking "idiot light" that only indicates whether oil pressure is present. If it drops below a per-determined level, a warning should go off.
So nice to reach out to fellow owners to see what they are experiencing (and get an idea whether or not my truck's behavior is "normal") and get such wonderful sarcastic comments in return.
Now that is helpful, thanks. Maybe I just wasn't understanding how it all works. I was under the...
Yeah, well when I do that the engine lugs down -- sometimes badly before it finally downshifts -- which is the problem. Sometimes it refuses to downshift until I really step on it. It would be nice if I didn't have to manually downshift. With a sophisticated electronic control system, you'd...
LOL! Well, the trans shifting program at least leaves something to be desired. We also have an '18 Expy and while that is slightly better going up the hill it still struggles a bit, just like our '16 Explorer did. What do they all have in common? The Ecoboost powertrain. . .
According to the owner's manual, the +/- buttons are used to "lock out" certain gears while in Drive. That doesn't help me going up hill, but could be useful when going down hill. It's my understanding that if I put it in "M" for manual that is basically locking me into whatever gear I am...
I had a 2009 for many years. We live up on a rather steep hillside and have to climb over a distance of more than 2 miles in order to get home. My 2009 with the Triton V8 handled this process very smoothly. The transmission was always quick to downshift as the grade got steeper. It was almost...
That's what I was afraid of! I'm planning to add rain-sense to my truck and I was hoping it was just a matter of adding the sensor. Older models use only that and nothing else. I'm guessing they must have upgraded the system in 2015. . .
That makes sense. "Camera" could mean screen for the backup camera. This still seems odd though because 2015-17 models all have a screen in the dash. Some are 4-inch, others 8-inch but all have the backup camera in the dash screen as far as I know. . .
Old post I know but I'm wondering if any member has done the swap to factory rear load-leveling shocks and springs? While I was shopping for a new truck we drove a 2014 Limited that had this option and I was frankly amazed by the ride quality in that truck. It wasn't quite as good as newer...
The 2017 factory parts diagram for the windshield mysteriously lists two different inside rearview mirrors:
W/ AUTO DIM, W/ CAMERA, W/ MIC
W/ AUTO DIM, W/ O CAMERA, W/ O MIC
I'm wondering what factory option utilizes a camera and microphone in the inside rearview mirror?
LEDs can be hit-or-miss on quality. I avoid buying stuff like this on eBay or Amazon. I get mine from SuperBrightLEDs.com instead. They are more expensive but, so far, the quality has been really good.
