I have a complete set of leather seats (all 3 rows) from a 2010 Navigator, pulled when the truck was still almost new and had only 6K miles on it. Color is Charcoal Black and they are memory/heated/cooled. I had intended to put them in my 2009 Expy but found out I had to become a computer hacker...
In another thread on power mirrors we just confirmed how to add POWER-FOLD to a truck that has memory mirrors but not power-fold mirrors. Note this does *not* enable any sort of "AUTO FOLD" feature (i.e. fold when locking the truck and arming the alarm) as that isn't available on our trucks...
RE: DSM code, that's good news! Thanks! :)
RE: Glass, looks like you fried the electrochromic coating pretty good. The voltage range is 0 to just under 1.5 volts to change the glass from clear to dark. That's why the connector on the back of the mirror says "1.5 V MAX."
PS As an alternative...
True about brake clearance. CCD has a specially tuned shock damping though. Ford claims the 22-inch wheels were "specifically selected" for CCD which might imply the shock valving program assumes a specific unsprung mass for that wheel and tire combination. Changing that value too much might...
We have a 2017 EL XLT and a 2018 "shorty" Platinum. We don't get a lot of snow but live on the side of a mountain so when it does snow, we need traction.
For the 2017 EL XLT, I have an extra set of 17-inch wheels from my old 2009 Expedition that I use for Winter driving. I put traction tires...
If you just need something for occasional use, the "tire sock" might be a good option. They may tear up after only one use, but you can keep one or two sets in the truck in case you need them. We have these for our 2018 Platinum with 22-inch wheels since I'm not aware you can get any snow tires...
I would say this is unlikely because it works perfectly fine the rest of the time. It only gives us trouble in this one very specific situation. Weird!
And, yes, I agree the "kick to open" feature is a bit glitchy. I can't get it to work much of the time.
I'm pretty sure it did this to me once. Started closing all by itself while I was loading stuff. These newer trucks have some WEIRD electrical glitches!
Excellent info! Going to guess this is for 2011-14. There were lots of changes for 2015 and the DSM programming looks to be different. Also, I didn't know the higher-trim mirrors with auto-dim glass still had the blind spot inserts. For 2015-17 there was a BLIS option. Trucks with BLIS will have...
This was one of the questions I asked when I got my first 4X4. I was told chains are for rear wheels only and the Ford owner's manual says as much. This is from 2009 which was my first Expedition:
We don't get a lot of snow here BUT we live up a *very* steep hill (a nearly 200-foot climb...
Our 2018 Platinum "Shorty" rear hatch has been behaving rather oddly. In a certain type of situation, the hatch will refuse to close:
Park and turn the ignition OFF.
Driver stays seated and belted in.
Driver pushes the button on the dash to open the rear hatch.
A passenger gets out, goes...
Happy to help. :) I'm not a fan of "Easter egg" functions, but that does seem to be the way things are going -- at least with "mobile" interfaces on things like smart phones.
As for this old-style physical control panel, it was simply a matter of not wanting to spend the extra $$ to add a...
Our 2018 Expy switches to red when the doors open and back to the chosen color when they are closed. I think this is a good idea for safety at night. Back in the day many cars had both red and white lights that came on when a door was opened. The red light was a safety "warning" light. In later...
It's one of those hidden "Easter egg" controls. Fun!
From the owner's manual:
"Press and hold AUTO to engage/disengage separate passenger side temperature control."
For 2007-14, there were two different chrome pieces on the rear -- with camera and without. They're both almost identical but the one with camera has the hatch switch moved over a bit and there's also an extra cutout where the camera is installed. I know this because I bought some of the parts...
Don't put it in Manual. That locks you into whatever the current gear is. The only way to change gears is by using the "+" and "-" buttons on the shifter. Instead, leave it in drive and use those same buttons to lock out the higher gears until you start to get some engine braking. Also...
Looking at the factory wiring diagram, this circuit is not properly spec'd. At least in 2015-17 models, the Climate Controlled Seat Module (formerly known as the Dual Climate Seat Module) is connected to a 40A circuit breaker via a 6 gauge wire. That is HUGE so it's evidence of the current draw...
In this day and age, that would be terrible! But, that was a pretty funny story. LOL :)
I hear you, I was worried about the cost of replacements, too. I checked into it and found out they cost roughly $700 per strut. Thankfully these are fairly standard on 2015+ Navigators, otherwise they...
Awesome, thank you! :D
Keep in mind, it's possible the DSM with power-fold is physically different than one without. This might account for that F150 owner (in the thread linked somewhere above) who had to swap his module. It would make more sense though if Ford had just one module (that should...
I know a lot of people don't like air suspension because they don't feel it's reliable, but it really does offer an amazing ride. I remember test driving a 2006 2nd Gen Expy with 4-corner air and it was SMOOTH.
I drove Ford Panthers (Town Car, Grand Marquis, Crown Vic) for 10 years before...
Well here's some info I found in a 2011-14 F-150 spreadsheet compared with the data from my truck. Note the first two lines. Hopefully this plus the data from your truck will help us nail this down once and for all! :)
