    First oil change

First oil change 1500, then every 3,000 regardless of the oil life percent reading. I never drive the truck until the engine oil temp is "normal". Added the catch can. From what I understand it is not needed with the newer gen 3.5.

    Undercoating for rust prevention?

You guys don't understand what Fluid Film is. Bedliner product or any paint or hard coating does not stop rust. It dries and moisture gets behind it and then the rust starts. FF does not hurt paint, in fact some use it as a polish. FF is not messy after a few days. It stops rust from starting...

Sure wish Ford would offer the 5.0 on the Expedition,Which F150 engine would a Ford Technician pick?

Well this sure strayed off topic to axles and 4x4.... https://fabfours.com/which-is-better-solid-or-independent-axles/

Sure wish Ford would offer the 5.0 on the Expedition,Which F150 engine would a Ford Technician pick?

Funny how you guys think that a solid axle is better for off road when in the OHRV community, IRS and IFS are top selling points as the individual wheels maintain full traction contact on un-level surfaces.

Drifts forward in reverse up hill

I started driving with two feet before I obtained my license at 16. Now in my 50's still driving that way. My father drove that way, and my son does too. Left foot always the brake, right the throttle on an automatic. I think if more drove this way there would be less accidents and hitting the...

Drifts forward in reverse up hill

Sounds normal to me. Why would you want the torque converter to engage while at an idle - slipping and building up heat, let alone expect it to hold a heavy truck on a hill???

A couple of questions on the expedition

In our family we always refer to our Expys "trucks" along with our pickups. The Mustang is a car and the Jeeps are jeeps.

Sure wish Ford would offer the 5.0 on the Expedition,Which F150 engine would a Ford Technician pick?

I have the 5.4 2v, had a 5.4 3v (probably the worst engine designed) and the 3.5 Ecco in the Expeditions. The 3.5 blows the others away with power and performance. And I am of the old school that I would only buy and drive V8.

Rushing air sound under normal acceleration

You never know, just throwing it out there for thought.

Rushing air sound under normal acceleration

Hmmm. Could it be coming from the speakers? On some models Ford pipes engine sounds through the speaker system to give the passengers a sense of engine power...

What oil and Filter combo in the new Ecoboost

I run Motorcraft synth blend and Motorcraft filter every 3K. Walmart has the best price.

    Drivers turbo replacement...116,000 mile report.

Regardless of the turbo make or bearing type....it wants clean oil and a brief cool down.

    Drivers turbo replacement...116,000 mile report.

Haha, I must be your neighbor. LOL. To each his own. I know what works and proven it. We don't warm up or cool for comfort, it is for keeping engine and component wear like turbos to a minimum.

    2019 Air Intake

Who said K&N are not good filtering filters??? I have them on everything including off road and construction equipment. When I buy a new vehicle that is the first thing to go. I bought the '16 Expy and ordered a K&N that same week. The stock filters go in the K&N box stored on a shelf for use...

    Drivers turbo replacement...116,000 mile report.

You are correct it takes a long time...in the morning as soon as I jump out of the shower I remote start the '16 it runs 15-20 min. On my pickups I just run out start them and come back in. My wife remote starts her '04 Expy and lets it warm up. When she leaves work she remotes from her office...

    Drivers turbo replacement...116,000 mile report.

Turbos are very particular when it comes to oil...I never go over 3K on changes - forget about the % reading. I let the engine reach operating temp before driving so the turbos get the proper oil viscosity and all engine components at the temp they like for clearances. When stopping you have to...

    New Headlights!

Nice headlights! Be sure to aim them correctly including fog lights. The trend in my area is to run bright headlights and fog lights on all the time at night...even no fog. I hate it...way too bright for on coming or traffic in front. Just a matter of time before law enforcement starts to step...

    Vacation - Battery disconnect ?

I just bought one from the Ford dealer for around $120 Motorcraft 750. Interstate C65XHD is comparable in price too. I use either in my trucks.

DIY - Oil change for a 2017 Expedition

I understand the concern of the Fumoto and other valves. I only put one on the '16 Expy because the drain plug is on the side of the cast aluminum oil pan and was making a mess draining the oil. The valve is a right angle and drains straight down. Plus the '16 has a cover that needs to be...

DIY - Oil change for a 2017 Expedition

You do raise a good point and I will check it. If it does then I'll pull it maybe every 15,000 when I clean the catch can filter. I change engine oil every 3K. The valve is still better than sucking it out the dip stick tube as others have suggested. LOL

DIY - Oil change for a 2017 Expedition

And if the front of the truck is elevated higher than the rear, everything drains nice with no mess, including the filter. I installed one of these on the oil pan https://www.fumotooildrainvalve.com/
