I check my '04 weekly and add a quart when it needs it as it just started using more at 150,000. As the owners manual state....check the oil levels frequently. It doesn't drip or bluesmoke. I change the oil at 3K so maybe it takes a quart or 2 in that time.
Dealers don't always do the right thing....they are in business to sell vehicles. If the vehicles last a long time and don't need repairs they and the manufacturers lose money. Something to think about. Same with road deicing, body shops knew about that back in the '60s.
I would have to research the part number...Ford calls it a "Remote Start Kit" but when you open the box it's just the two new keys. Yeah I got charged for "labor" by the dealer. LOL At least it's factory!
Summit Racing sells a filler tube dipstick kit. Brings it up to the top on the firewall. Going to put one on mine along with an aluminum larger capacity oil pan.
That's right. On the '16 Expedition it's part of the PCM, not sure on the earlier years. Just need to buy the keys and program the PCM for the option. Doesn't the kit use another fob? I like having an OEM key with the start feature. I would never install an aftermarket kit in a new $50K+ truck.
The dealer is full of crap on the '16 Expedition. All you need to buy is new factory remote start keys...which look just like the original but with the center start button....the dealer programs the PCM with a laptop and you now have factory remote start. No cutting wires and plugging in stuff...
I wonder if the on board computers are lying to us LOL. I check the '16 on the dash too and the '04 & '06 calculated by miles and fuel used. All tho the '04 is the 2 valve and the '06 was the 3 valve. The '06 got better mpg at about 13-14. Long highway trips up to 15mpg.
Must be our crap fuel LOL. Since the cold snap here the '04 5.4 is getting consistent 10mpg. But it also gets warmed up longer before being driven too so that's why it's down from 12. The '16 gets warmed up until the engine oil temp reads "normal" on the display.
I run Shell premium or other top tier fuel and add Marvel Mystery Oil to keep things lubed and clean. Not worth it to me to save a few pennies on fuel for a $50,000+ truck. Top tier fuel is the key to engine longevity....I don't see anyone discussing that.

Guys that don't read or comprehend the owners manual make me want to bang my head. The EB is a twin turbo, direct injected engine. It's in the manual - recommended fuel for best performance is premium top tier. You can run less octane and the PCM will adjust it's settings and retard ignition...
