One of the things I've been toying with is taking oil samples and sending to a lab for testing. We do it with our diesel gensets at work and the info they come back with is awesome. I've found that you can extend the life of your oil by knowing how it's holding up. In fact, there are many who...
I'm going about 5K between changes using whatever the dealer does for me (great deal there since bought the vehicle there). They say it's a synthetic blend.
I google searched and found the following Ford page. It apparently only advises on open recalls. Nothing about TSBs.
Personalized Vehicle Owner Information
"Note: Be advised that this system tracks safety and emission recalls for which vehicles are subject to repair in the United...
I'm resurrecting this thread since I'm interested in what TSB's are available for the Expedition. Specifically, my 2011. And, I have a '13 Escape, so I'd like to keep up with that as well. I found the 2011 from the links listed earlier:
2011 FORD EXPEDITION TSB's (technical service...
Did you check the battery terminals with a volt meter to ensure the + is really positive and the - is really negative? It's been known to happen.
Also - consider disconnecting the battery again for a few minutes to allow things to reset again and see if that helps.
The pump is in the tank as well as the filter. The manual for my 2011 EL states "Your vehicle is equipped with a lifetime fuel filter that is integrated with the fuel tank. Regular maintenance or replacement is not needed." Why would they say that if there was something else you would...
1) The tie in to the Sync system is ONLY available if the headrests were installed at the factory.
2) Either DVD player can see the other player. One is A and the other B. You select via the source. You can also use a USB connection or composite video/audio in.
3) Since there are two...
It's on the Sync module that's located inside the center console. Search the forum for the USB 2 mod and you'll come across some posts on how to get to it. You'll need to rig an extension cable to get to it once you put your console back together.
I've had the same set since spring. LOVE THEM! I have two small kids who have had other small kids in 2nd / 3rd row seating. Can't tell you how many times those mats have saved me.
BigRed - those double dutch doors bug the crap out of me. Driving down the road with the pillar down the middle of the window sucks. At least to me. Why do you think the double doors are better for loading? I can't say I've ever had a problem loading with the lift gate.
You had a hot pass for the race? NICE! I have an '11 EL that I'm going to haul my 24' TT about 6 hours away. Can't wait to see how it does compared to my '99 EB.
I wanted a diesel excursion as well, but never found one that wasn't lifted, had "low" miles, and the owner wanted a reasonable...
Not sure what your experience is, but I'd have to disagree that age has anything to do with power / torque requirements. Just because you are over 50 doesn't mean you don't tow anything. In fact, I could make an argument the other way.
As for the 4.6 vs 5.4.......for me it's the same thing...
Not a concern of mine as I figure millions survived driving vehicles without any airbags. I have them in my '11, which I like. But, it wouldn't have been a deal breaker for me if I found one without. I figure we have an advantage with the size and everyone has to wear seat belts.
On my last road trip the computer actually got to around 19 MPGs. So it was probably between 18 and 19. 2011 EL XLT Premium. Generally get around 11 to 13 around town with some hwy driving.
There is more to towing than the weight rating. You might want to read up on how length plays in to it as well to be safe. Especially when you are talking RVs.
Don't worry about it. We've all had the solution staring us in the face and couldn't see it. Like, "where are my sunglasses damn it!" - oops, on my head. Right?
Hope that is actually the problem...let us know, okay?
I went with the Ford Warranty - 72 month/72K mile, disappearing $100 deductible meaning the first time I go to the dealership I always go to I pay $100 one time only.
I got an extended warranty for my '11 EL when I bought it this past March with 15,000 Miles on it. It's worth it. If you have any problems at all with components known to go bad, you can use it to get them replaced so you don't have to worry about them later. I'm talking about things like...
