I gotta say that I tend to agree with some of what they have told you. It's a very sophisticated electronically controlled transmission. If I had those symptoms, I would first do a complete flush and filter replacement, and see if that fixes the issue. I would only consider adding an additive...
Ford redesigned these starting with the 2009 model year. To the best of my knowledge, the new plugs are also backward compatible to older years, also eliminating the problem for them. You should have nothing to worry about with your 2011.
I measured it and it's more like 16", so maybe they call that 18. It just needs to be big enough to fit your stuff but narrow enough that you can close the hatch with the 3rd row up. It's worked out very well for me.
Agree on the lack of storage, and I remember stressing about that with the first Expedition I had. The best solution I came up with was buying one of these Husky tool bags at Home Depot. It holds my jumper cables, tow strap, hitch, a few ratchet straps, a folding shovel, electric brake...
COP's get weak over time and can cause issues without throwing codes, nor looking cracked or damaged. I have found that tests are inaccurate. I've metered known bad COP's which have shown the exact same ohms as a brand new one. Using a spark tester only indicates spark/no spark. A typical...
Changed plugs once on my '07 at 100K, ran great for another 25K until my wife totaled it. Have a '10 now and just changed them at 105K and they looked good. I've not had any plug fouling issues with either truck.
X2 on the above. Been down this road with both an '07 and '10. My list of things for hesitation/misfiring are:
Air Filter
Clean Mass Airflow Sensor
Clean throttlebody
Replace Spark Plugs
Replace COPs-no, you can't tell if they are bad by looking at them or metering them.
Those four things...
It could be any number of things. Calipers, brake pads, suspension parts, ball joints, etc etc. Need to get it up in the air and take a look for anything apparent first. Also search YouTube for possible common rattles.
If the board is trying to retract, and actually does when you help it with your foot, then take some time to clean and lube the pivot points. This happens to me monthly during the winter. There are 4 pivot points on each running board. Use a can of WD40 and blast them liberally. A new, full...
Simple first step: Clean your battery terminals. The dealer probably unhooked the battery when working on the fuel pump, and when they reinstalled the connectors on the battery, one may not be making good contact. Check these first...could be an easy fix. Just a thought.....
Sorry to hear that. I just went through that myself. My wife borrowed it to haul some kids around and was rear-ended pretty bad and also pushed into the car in front of her. Both ends were pretty screwed up. The body shop had to partially tear it down before they finally figure out it was...
Here's a WAY better YouTube video to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpzyHrQtZ8c
I have mixed feelings on the Motorcraft COPs. I did find some on Ebay for $279, which is a great deal considering they are usually almost $400 for a set. However, I did have good luck with the AC Delco...
No, don't remove the spark plugs unless you want to change them at the same time. Leaving the spark plug in will ensure that none of the moisture or wire dry spray gets into the cylinder.
Once you get yourself acclimated under the hood and figure out what you are looking at, this whole...
Nice rig! Congrats!
Driver's seat heater: These are different than most other cars, in that there is actually a coil under the seat that heats up, then a fan blows the warm air up through the perforations in the seat. It's not a heat pad directly under your butt like most cars. When you...
Sounds like that was your problem!
As for removing the COP's, see this YouTube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD3JS4HucTs
This may not be your exact year (actually I think this was an F150), but they are generally all the same. Just watch 2:50 thru 3:30 and you'll get the idea...
I know this thread is a month old, but wanted to chime in with a similar experience. When I first bought my '07 EB, one of the first things I did was clean the engine using the spray on foam engine cleaner. I've used this stuff all my life and never had problems with hosing down an engine...
Yeah it's not cheap, but it saves you from having to pry them apart and try to glue them back shut again. I'm debating on what to do, but time is money for me.
Found this site that sells two LED puddle lights plus includes LED license plate bulbs for $67. Looks like these puddle lights are not retrofits, but new, sealed LED units. Drive Bright | LED Puddle Light Pack – Bright TRAX – V4 EXTREME (IN STOCK!!)
