For the rear, there are many choices for limited slip and locking differentials.
You don't need to change out axles though. If you have an open differential in the back, you may be able to find a 'lunchbox locker' for the rear. It installs easily in the existing differential carrier and you...
It's probably better to leave the hinges on the door. Be prepared to spend a bit of time lining everything up. You may have to tweak it a few times to get all the shut lines even. You'll also want to have a friend or two around to lend a hand.
Of course, I swapped out the liftgate by myself...
If you can locate the canister, check it to see if it's full of water. My brother's sportrac had this error and that's what it turned out to be. It's an issue that usually happens when you get to 150k+ miles.
You want to make sure that they are 'hub-centric" meaning that the center hole of the adapter fits tightly against the center of the hub. This avoids vibration issues.
Nope. It sounds like the previous owner replaced the dash with a 2wd version.
The entire system would need to be checked out to see if there was a problem that forced him to remove that driveshaft.
There would be no benefit to removing it (fuel economy, etc) so it begs the question 'why?'
Have you checked to see if you have any vacuum leaks? (especially the elbow on the back of the throttle body)
Is that an oiled filter? Those can mess up the mass air sensor.
A decent scan tool will let you look at the various sensor outputs, which can give you an idea of what is going on.
That light means that the airbags are disabled due to the fault.
You really do want to get this fixed.
You at least, need to get the code pulled to see what the fault is. It could just be a coincidence and the fault lies elsewhere.
It would seem that either something came unplugged when you were working on it or a wire became pinched. The only way to turn off an airbag light is to fix the problem that caused the light to go on in the first place.
Remember those airbag systems get data from many different places. Seat...
If you're going to all that trouble to pull the gauges, why not get one of those overlays that have built in EL illumination? Something like this
USA 99 03 Ford F150 Expedition Blue Glow Gauges Face Overlay 00 01 02 | eBay
You could send the ecu out to a place like 150tunes.com and they can disable the PATS.
Of course that's going to take a few days and cost $150. Probably not any cheaper of faster than towing it to the dealer.
Not that it helps, but the moral of the story is to always make sure that you have a...
You'll notice that the vacuum disconnects the wheel end. So if you have a vacuum leak, the wheel end will engage, either fully or partially.
Fortunately, it's easy to test the wheel ends with a small vac pump (like in the video).
Energy suspension makes a kit that has all the bushings in it for the front and rear. Doing this in addition to the ball joints will really help take the slop out of the suspension.
You can also get a knocking noise from worn unit bearings (wheel bearings) in the front. If these haven't...
It's really worth having a pro do this. First, the system needs to be evacuated of all air / refrigerant / gunk. This also tests the system for leaks. A pro can put the exact amount of refrigerant in the system that is required. If you do it yourself, you are just guessing based on pressures...
