My first instinct is to say that it was something that you did, or didn't do, when you were making your repair.
It's important to get voltages, not just test light results, to determine what's going on.
If you were having problems before you disconnected everything, then it may be a...
It's hard to make a newer truck with all that plastic cladding and bumpers look tough. (at least cheaply)
Replacement bumpers, some lift and decent wheels and tires are a good start.
Also, the color combination doesn't exactly scream 'tough', so maybe some paint is in order.
With any lift, you are going to put more stress on suspension and drive line parts.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to check that the lift brackets, suspension arms, etc. are tight. I would do this annually if you drive 'normally'. If you actually off road it, then do it more often.
If you've never...
Since it appears that it has spark, I guess the first thing I would do is to check that the injectors are firing. They make little test lights for this (noids)
I talked to them about the mounting system when I put mine on, and they told me that they were doing a redesign on it. Looks like that is the new system.
I had to cut off all the existing brackets and bolt it up using existing holes. This looks a bit more robust. I guess the only downside is...
Could also be the condenser. If it's gunked up with debris, it won't let enough air pass over it to work properly at idle. When you're driving, and forcing air over it, it will work a bit better.
Other than topping it up with a can of AC Pro, there isn't really that much you can do (legally)...
I have a buddy who religiously tracks his mileage and he swears that his mileage will change depending on where he fills up.
Are you buying gas at the same station?
Things to try:
Cleaning the mass air flow sensor. There's a special spray for it.
When was the last time the fuel filter was...
The biggest difference that I saw using the edge programmer was with the transmission.
The programmer eliminated the slow, sloppy shifts, which made it far better to tow.
In doing so, it also eliminated the heat that builds up from all that slipping, which will extend the life of the...
I ran my HIDs in stock housings with no problems. I did have to do some minor re-aiming but that was it.
I also had projectors on the truck and hated the way they looked and performed.
I'm pretty sure that those are expansion fasteners. The 'screw' needs to be pulled out and then the 'molly' part will collapse and allow you to pull the cover off.
Could be a lot of things. Anything from bad coils to a bad transmission. We really need a better description of the problem (codes?) and the truck to give you any more insight.
If the power steering pump was locking up, you would definitely feel a lack of assist when you turned the wheel. It would feel 'notchey'.
Most likely, you have an IWE (integrated wheel end) going bad. When those go bad they engage the front wheel(s).
2 to 3 inches is a lot of lift. I doubt that the stock system is capable of getting you 1" over the normal height.
To try it though, you'd have to fool the system by changing the adjustment of the ride height sensor.
Is your truck lowered? Lowered trucks (just like lifted ones) put more wear on the suspension pieces. I'd have someone check over each and every joint, link and bushing. I'd also add wheel bearings to that list.
More likely than not, those scratches are in the clear coat that is over the aluminum.
If polishing them out isn't working, then you could always strip off the clear coat and polish the bare aluminum. The only problem with this is that you will need to polish regularly them to keep them...
There's no way to get to that horn 'switch' without pulling the airbag off.
You could always install a remote switch for the horn. Not an elegant answer to the problem though.
May as well put together your craigslist post. Ain't gonna fit, unless you do something ridiculous like stack 2 4" spacers. (don't laugh, it was done by someone here)
