    Grinding noise during startup

Let's hope for a part design improvement instead of simply replacing parts and running customers past warranty.

    Grinding noise during startup

Well, that would explain the issue. So depressing/holding the accelerator to the floor at startup will allow the engine to crank but not fire? Regarding the TSB, did your dealer say what Ford is offering to do? If they are just replacing worn parts in hopes they'll last past your warranty...

    Grinding noise during startup

It was directed at everyone; hoping someone knew whether the EB engines have a pre-start oil pressurization design/system. It dosen't matter what oil or oil filter is used. If, at start-up, the critical lubrication points are void (or nearly so) of oil, that's a bad design.

    Grinding noise during startup

If part of the reason for the cam phaser noise is dry start (and I hear it's often worse after the car has not been started for days), why don't they just correct that? Most engines have a system to pressurize oil prior to start. I'm guessing the 3.5L EB does as well but that it simply is not...

    Grinding noise during startup

So it's not a defect but rather a "feature"? ;)

    When to purchase extended warranty

Flood was the best deal I found on the Premium Care 8 year/125000 mile plan. With the passenger side power running board continually misfiring, and likely being replaced, I just paid for 60% of the warranty... in month #2. On whatever plan you choose, make certain of the details regarding when...

    Grinding noise during startup

Jeebus, how widespread is this issue? The more I'm reading on this forum, the more I'm wondering about my recent purchase. I love the looks, the ride, and gizmos... but if Ford cannot make a solid power plant and transmission, the rest isn't worth a shit. This issue sound like it dates back...

    Leather cleaner / preserver

Thanks for the insights. Some are suggesting that many of these conditioners are useless on these faux leather seats. Because they have a "clear coat" of sorts on the leather veneer, mild alkaline cleaning is the best approach to long term maintenance. The thought here being that the clear...

    Running boards stopped working

Agree and tried. I think mine may have a binding/alignment issue as I've done the spray clean, lube, and cycle sequence several times now. When I spoke with FordHouse to make the service appt., and explained the history, the tech said they usually just R&R the whole assembly. On the one hand...

    Leather cleaner / preserver

Great info here folks - thanks. This is the first ventilated leather seats for us and are their issues using these products on the perforated areas? Obviously take care not to slobber any product on, but can this be an issue? Just poking around for info and found this.

    Running boards stopped working

Well, the passenger side keeps acting up, so it's time for the first extended warranty service call. I even pressure sprayed the hinge joints to death, re-lubricated, and manually cycled the step a dozen times. I'm beginning to think its and alignment issue as it only takes a slight amount of...

    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot "Features" Thread

@Deadman did you have your seat belt on when this happened?

    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot "Features" Thread

So if I'm getting this correct, the auto return to park does not activate if there is a driver seated with seat belt attached? So feel free to open/close the door at speed to free up that raincoat, or while backing down a boat ramp?

But if you are in reverse and backing up, open your door and it will slam itself back into park. Are we certain of that? Any volunteers to test this? Perhaps someone located real close to a Ford dealer.

    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot "Features" Thread

Yup. This was one of the "features" I inquired about when I joined the forum - as I was reading information from users and their surprise reactions with the rotary shift dial. My 2006 Dodge CTD sounds the horn if you're in reverse with the door open, and seatbelt off. While annoying, that...

    4 Wheel Auto Issue

I've not even tried "sport mode" yet. Are we talking really significant performance in trade for the reduced fuel efficiency?

    Gear Indicator on Panel

Works as described. I even like its location (small window inside tach) better than on the F150. Thanks again gents!

    Dog barrier

We have one of these originally purchased for our 1998 Explorer and now used in our CRV. It works well and is adjustable for both width and height. I place it right up against the 2nd row seats and add a small cushion (foam, folded towel, etc.) between the top plastic foot pads and the roof...

Cool, thanks! No need to select the "M" mode (which I haven't even played with)?

    Gear Indicator on Panel

My neighbor has a 2018 F150 and while we were driving to fish last week, his instrument panel showed the gears (1-10), in a vertical line just left of the speedometer, with the active gear shown lit. He told me it was in the advanced settings, but thus far, I've not been able to find that...

    LED Headlight Quality

I'm not sure exactly which headlights I have in my 2018 Limited. They look like projector bulbs (round dome shape). Today I drove to Helena, MT O'dark early... and it was dark! I had absolutely no issue seeing the road with low beams and the driving lights. Even with the hi-beams turning off...

    Annoying Horn

Hi Wayne. Roger on the 1 push for door lock - that's not a big deal. So your 2019 does not sound the horn when opening/closing the passenger doors under the following conditions? - engine running and in park - driver door closed (seat unoccupied) - FOB in your pocket Mine sounded every time I...

    Removing front air dam?

My neighbor has a 2018 F150 and removed his. He thinks it has cost him a little drop in mpg... as in tenths.
