This is my first vehicle with a back up camera.
Growing up we plowed snow, had to use mirrors. Used heavy equipment for snow removal during the winter, had to use mirrors. Learned how to drive heavy truck on a 1974 Mack with a 200 Cummins and 16 speed twin stick with manual steering, had to...
Someone said the new Navigators come with 4.10 LS rears. Also the SSV Expeditions are 3.73 LS according to those with mo knowledge than me.
If you aren't 4wd it makes life easy, you don't have to match gears for the front diff.
Another Expedition or a Navigator which is IRS (Independent Rear Suspension)
The F150 is a live axle (straight/full length axle) and would not fit without serious modification to the rear suspension.
Swapping the carrier is the very difficult. This involves dissasembling the entire rear differential (removing axles stubs, removing cover, removing the carrier, removing the bearing mounts, removing pinion gear and assembley) then applying the differential of your choice and gears of your...
Its way less of a pain to swap the entire rear axle out for a junkyard unit if you are doing it yourself. You can swap it yourself but its not a simple job.
If you are going to pay someone, less work to have them swap the carrier out. This will also give you options to change gears to ones you...
For a little more aggresive and better looking, try the Hankook Dynapro ATM. Ran them on the wife's exploder with no issues and see several Expys around here with them
Edit: Answered my own question. The OEM Ford trailer brake controler is integrated into the stock computer, the master cylinder and the dash display. Soooooo its a no go. Looks like it will be a custom install of an aftermarket tbc.
I like the look of the built-into-dash trailer brake...
We made our own to go on the 4wheeler back in the day. Couple pieces of angle iron, some heavy gauge sheetmetal a couple bolts and a welder. Used the winch to raise it up and down. For simple purposes like plowing just your driveway a manual "up" lock would work fine.
The picture of the light spread against the house is a little bit misleading; my driveway slopes up to the house hence the splash directly behind the truck.
To be honest I never thought about utilizing the puddle lights, thats a pretty good idea. I imagine you would have to add a relay from...
Thats what I plan on doing to the wife's Exploder. I did similiar on my old Dodge pickup, but wasn't worried about aesthetics with that old hunk of iron. My brother is about the add those lights into the bumper of his 04 Cummins for plowing.
I tried that and was still unimpressed with the illumination. The other issue with high mounted reverse lights that are extremely bright is if you are backing up with a trailer using your mirrors the glare off of the trailer can be blinding. Thats why I wanted to go as low mounted as possible.
Cross posted for expanded distribution
I like to see where I am going, especially at night. Its an understatement to say the factory reverse lights leave alot to be desired. I wanted more light, but I prefer subtle looking. I didn't want to hack holes into my bumper, I can't stand lights that...
