Negative, Ghost Rider.
In 1978 all F150 were coil spring front end. Unless you want to do a coil spring front suspension; this will be a Dana 44 (3.54 gearing) wedge front with a (most likely) Ford 9” rear. The 9“ is an awesome rear, no doubt, and most likely 3.50 gears. Should be the tapered...
Mil did some testing with them. Did not work out as expected.
But, we do utilize the 6”x6” solar panels that trickle charge the batteries of outdoor equipment (generators, HE, etc.)

Look at the “Frequently bought together” advertisement for the wiring adapters. Literally you pop off door panel, unscrew old speaker, disconnect it, connect adapter, connect to newspeaker, screw new speaker in, reinstall...

Excellent upgrade at affordable price. Check Ebay, you can get package sets for less than $90 shipped.
They are 6.5” round but you can either make a “plate” (1/8” plastic, thin mdf, 1/4” plywood, just about anything) to mount them...
You can change out in the future to a 3l/4l later on if you please as the ground work had been done.
You will be surprised at the amount of flex you can get from properly set-up leaf springs. Most people have 5-6 leaf spring packs forheight which makesthem VERY stiff. By using proper springs...
Government Liquidation sites have wheels tires that are less than 7 years old at very good prices. I have bought and sold several sets without issue. The oxymoronic thing about the military is the high waste of money. If a unit orders 20 rim/tires but are only authorized to maintain an on-hand...
Yeah, I’ve done this a few times.....
The CUCV is military vehicle built by GM from late 70s-late 80s. Basically a 3500 truck or a K10 blazer built to beat the hell out of.
Rack and pinion is going to end up in the scrap parts pile. You will need a traditional frame mount steering box and...
Ok, to be 100% honest: this project is an ambitious desire.
But, if you want to do straight axle swaps front and rear here is what I recommend (better be handy with a welder and be able to fabricate some parts):
Leaf springs front and rear; by far the easiest.
Realistically any matched set of...
In!
I tried white lithium grease and it worked for 3-4 months. I am contemplating disassembling and adding the bronze bushings and grease fittings I saw in that running board thread.
Axles from a CUCV is what you seek:
Dana 60 front
Corporate 14 bolt rear
Both came stock with detroit lockers and 4.56 gears. Can be had for $750-1k. Shave some off of the enormous rear pumpkin (LOTS of meat, plenty to support). Add a hydraboost brake booster and hoses from any Dura-dud...
Oh yeah, those were 2015 BRZ wheels I traded a guy for. He wanted the stock WRX wheels the XT came with. So my WRX wheels with 1/2 tread tires for brand new, no miles BRZ take-offs with brand new tires and $200. He worked at a Subie dealership, so I’m pretty sure they were snagged off a new car...
I’m a cheap a$$, so yes, every modification and bit of work was done by me. I traded some gun parts to a custom tuner to get the tune done. Had the alignment done at a local place to STi specs. I had an ‘02, an ‘01 and a ‘99. Bought the ‘02 with 74k on it for $2k, drove it to 246k before clutch...
There are actually 3 different 7 pin wiring pin-outs. Can’t recall the names of them all off the top of my head. Found out when I was reairing my trailer for 7pin/4pin.
I would do a quick check of the pin-out on the trailer with a 9 volt battery. If it checks out....... poor ground connection?
Makes me miss my Forester.
Very plain looking 2004 Forester XT (kind of a unicorn with factory installed EJ257, 4.44 geared 5 speed trans/diff, Obsidian black pearl paint). Stock it was quick. Very quiet Borla Hush 3” exhaust, big polished turbo and supporting upgrades (hand made and polished...
its always good to take classes. You don’t know what you don’t know. Having a broad exposure to techniques and styles helps you find what works best for you. That and no 2 situations ever require the same actions so having that experience base helps.
