    What oil/filter do you use?

Thanks for the compliment. I don't "know" my oils, I just know what I have been taught and how to interpret the data provided (.mil spent a lot of money sending me to 5 petroleum schools/courses and allowing me to earn certifications as an API certified petroleum laboratory technician). I'm no...

    What oil/filter do you use?

You are correct. He began with "way back when" and then moved on to modern day synthetics. There wasn't a transition leading to the new synthetics train of thought, which is why it was confusing. Not poking at you, just clarifying the point.

    What oil/filter do you use?

In the post you quoted, 1955moose clearly stated "Back in the day when all we had was petroleum oil". He was refering to a time well before the oil refinement technology, additives and conditioners added to oil today. I would assume he is talking about the 1950s-1990. Go to API website and look...

    checking fluid level in 2012

Bunch of threads on this already, but here is the info you seek: The 'plug' actually houses the dipstick. Get truck to running temperature on a flat, level surface, leave it running. Using a 19mm combo wrench crack open the plug. Its right by the exhaust, so don't burn yourself. Cracking it...

    What oil/filter do you use?

To my knowledge there are several sub-2 micron filtration systems on the market, but they are designed for other applications. Could you mod it to make it work? Sure. Will it be inside the oil pressure requirement of the engine? Don't know. Don't forget: these engines require a pretty narrow...

Additional Lighting to front of 2015

And since the license plate mount on the Expedition is only a couple little holes in the plastic bumper itself, not even reinforced, that little license plate mount is going to bounce all over with the weight of a lightbar on itand eventually fail.

    What oil/filter do you use?

The reason T6 is no longer 'S' rated is that the new S Specification calls for no more than 0.08 % phosphorus. The previous S Spec was no more than 0.10 % phosphorus. But, the new CK4 diesel Spec allows 0.12%. The "lower" phosphorus levels are a definitive difference in the diesel vs gas oil...

    Replacement storage tray/shelf

Well, maybe i'll take some measurements and see if I can mock something up. That plastic tray isn't big enough for the stuff I typically keep in it.

That's almost as much as I paid for my Expedition. Expensive hobby. But, I can't judge; I have almost 3x that in my hobby, not accounting for the "expendables" used every time I partake in honing my skills.

    4-18s audio build

Out of my own morbid curiosity: how much $$$ is invested in that? Between all the stereo/electronic components, speakers, wiring, wood/fiberglass/sealant, vibration dampener, wiring, alternators, batteries, suspension upgrades and any associated supporting materials? Not counting labor and...

    09-14 Navigation in a 2008

IIRC there are a couple of components that go along with the headunit. I want to say 3 of them but can't remember off the top of my head. One of the external to headunit components is the factory amp for the door speakers and tweets. A guy on a Ford Explorer forum did it, buying all factory...

    Roof cab lights

Just my opinion here. If you don't like my opinion, don't read the following...... Not gonna lie: I don't like it. If you want to drive a big rig, buy a big rig. But, as previously stated; to each his own.

    Replacement storage tray/shelf

It is a time consuming project, but really not all that difficult. 90% of it is done OUTSIDE the vehicle, which means you can drive it while working on it. It sounds intimidating, but isn't a very hard project. If you have the mechanical ability to change your own brakes, you can do this. Plus...

    Replacement storage tray/shelf

You are trying WAY too hard bro. It sounds complicated, but believe me it is not: Take that entire plastic tray out. Once out, take some of the drawer liner that you use in kitchen drawers or toolbox drawers (1/16-1/8" thick foamy-rubber stuff). Lay that in the bottom and around the sides. Now...

    08 Front brakes under pressure

Flex hoses will definately swell and "collapse" over time. Combination of heat, moisture in fluid and deterioration of fluid; its hard on the rubber liner. Swap the rubber lines (preferably for braided lines with a better quality Teflon or PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) equivalent liner) and...

Additional Lighting to front of 2015

I mounted a single row (32" i think) light bar in the top slot of the grill. If you take your time and do it right it is relatively inconspicuous. I had to mod the brackets (bent the brackets that came with the light bar and drilled new holes in them) to center it up and down in the slot. Used...

Who has stickers on their Expy and what are they?

I concur 100%. Sadly, the truth of the matter is that we now live in a society that no longer supports this point of view/support of rights. My decision to remain inocuous and 'under the radar' is not based on this new culture.

    What oil/filter do you use?

One of the big reasons for the 3k oci back in the day was the leaded gas. Majority of it burned off but lead contaminants are very hard on oil. I know leaded gas ceased a long time ago, but some things just carry over. But you are correct; better fluids, better materials, better tolerances...
