Check your condensate drain line from the AC. Each evaporator coil (the heat exchanger that makes the air cold) also is dehumidifying the air that goes through it. That water collects in the box and drains out the drain hole. This is why you see a small puddle under cars sitting there with...
The steam is usually condensate that is in the tail pipes that boils off after warming up. If the 'smoke' persists well after startup I doubt that's steam.
My son-in-law has a 2020 limited. Nice vehicle. We just did our annual 'catching' trip down out of the Louisiana marshes and drove from South Florida over and back Sunday/Wednesday. Without knowing of this TSB, he cautioned me when I first got behind the wheel of the symptoms of this issue...
sboychuck - do you mind sharing the BSG price with us? I'm definitely in the same boat as you with high regard for the vehicle. It is garaged a good bit of the time, exterior excellent, some minor discoloration / stains on some of the cloth seating. I had put in a modern double din size head...
Sorry for the delayed response. YES - I did something similar for an aftermarket controller on my 2011. In my case I only needed the power line run - all the other factory wiring worked. As I recall, the brake controller that I bought (aftermarket) had an optional adapter harness for under...
Oh, well - hoping for the last poster to reply, however....
We don't put a lot of miles on this vehicle each year and I run synthetic oils and have since we bought the car with 23K miles on it. Right now at ~113K miles I have zero sound on start (and restart) and it runs great.
At this time...
Confirming your response - you did the replacement preventively with no active symptoms at the time, yes? In other words, you did it as I was thinking?
We have a 2012 EL XLT. I went from OEM Goodyears at 55k miles to the Destination LE2s - LOVED them. Smooth, quiet - good in the wet and dry, etc. I just replaced them at 111K miles last July with the Destination LE3s. Can't tell any difference. We love them as well. Only 1 data point, but...
My 2012 front struts were discovered leaking at 36,500K miles, just outside the mileage warranty, but less than 36 months. We had returned from a 1500 mile trip. Ford wouldn't do squat for us. I replaced them with Bilsteins. We now have just under 114K miles and they have been great.
Hello, all. We have a 2012 Expy with ~114K miles. It's been great. We've not yet exhibited any cam phaser symptoms (clatter at cold startup). We have the original cam phaser system with no failures of any of the related parts (sensors, chain, oil pressure reducing block, phasers).
I've...
I used Valvoline Multi-Vehicle, explicitly qualified as Dextron VI, Mercon LV and DEX/MERC fluid. I have a 2012 EL XLT.
See this post for good instructions on the process. https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/tranny-service.49248/page-3
... my experience for my 3 drains and fills starts...
I am in a situation with a 2012 where I wish to add 2 keys. I have 2 functional keys. The above quote is a bit confusing considering the detailed instructions above (post 2) since post 2 does NOT mention anything about pushing buttons on any fobs. It infers to add a key, you simply follow...
I have a 2012 Expedition. Like a dodo, last year I discovered that my 'spare' (i.e. 3rd key so I can always reprogram with 2 remaining) was not lost, but also my in use 2nd key failed. This forced me to use a local provider to come out. Needless to say I used him to sell me one and also...
Unless it won't fit in your garage, I'd definitely consider getting the MAX - that extra storage room in the back is IMHO essential if you're going on a family trip somewhere. I've always gotten the longer version of any 3 row SUV I've ever had and in some cars it makes a huge storage...
The below post has a lot of discussion on the same topic. Of my note, since you're only partially draining the pan, I ran the math on the number of times to drain and fill to get you to a reasonable amount of new fluid. I chose to do 3 drain and refills when I did mine (drain, refill, start &...
Fortunately my '12 is original and still working great so I've not had to touch it. Hmmm... I thought expansion valves were abandoned in cars years ago. I've had Fords since 1984 that had orifices (sometime integral in one of the hoses), but no valves. Are we talking the same part?
