Ok so now that's it's summer and I've had some time to look at things I have a question. Which fuses/relays do I need to check? I did find that the wiring has been pretty destroyed so I'm probably gonna remove them and run new wiring. Any tips on removing them? Thanks guys

Hey all I'm wondering if anybody has a wiring diagram that shows what wires go where for the plugs that go into the instrument cluster. I hope that makes sense. What I want to do is find the high beam indicator wire and use that as a "hot wire" to switch on my relay for my driving lights...
Im not exactly sure but as far as i know it shouldn't be too hard, just time consuming. Maybe somebody who has done a body lift will chime in because i know when you do that yoi have to pretty much gut the interior lol. Good luck!

Well i have both coolers, 3.73 gears, 7 pin connector, and tow hitch. I think mine came with the package... The only thing i cant find is the brake controller wiring? How far is it buried?

Okay so a thought occurred to me. Is it possible to just remove the whole center axle disconnect crap and have it operate in A4WD and 4-hi 4-low only, like on the 99+ expeditions? The small amount of gas mileage difference isn't much of a problem to me. Any ideas?
Thanks
Ok i see now. Yes that makes sense.
Funny story.. Before all this i was showing 10.2 mpg. Now ive been driving around a4wd and my mileage now shows 10.5?! That's backwards lol
I guess the only way ill ultimately get anywhere is to crawl under there and open the sucker up and see if a part...
Looks neat. You kinda have to give up the automatic part of it tho.
Anyways is there anyway to get a list of the part names that correspond to the diagram?
Thanks everyone

Hhmm ok but what would make it start working now all of a sudden? If it was vacuum related wouldnt it be an issue year round?
Is there a solenoid or something that could have been bound up?
Thanks

So ive had something weird happen. I got my expy back in December /January and at the time the 4 wheel drive did not work. Going from 2wd to a4wd just cause the light to blink (it's a 98). 4x4 and 4lo would light solid and the transfer case engage but the front hubs would not.
Anyways i was...
It's actually not that old, you have plenty of options! If you are fine with doing the wiring yourself all you should need is the following:
1) A radio (commonly called a "head unit"). Simple one's that play cd's, fm, and have USB and/or AUX inputs can be had for about 60 - 75 bucks now a...
Oh, and you can clean it one of two ways, either through the air intake (there's two little wires sticking in there) or you can use a security torx bit and pull it off. I pulled it off just to make sure. Although note also that I've also replaced my fuel filter and fixed the vacuum leak from...
Polaris is right. I used the guide i found here: http://easyautodiagnostics.com/ford_maf_clean/cleaning_ford_maf_2.php
I actually used some electronics cleaner. I believe it was like 4 bucks from wal mart. Only use that or maf cleaner. DONT use carb cleaner or brake cleaner, the solvents...
So i got my expy back in December and ever since its had the two lean codes that are common. Cleaned the maf tonight with some electronics cleaner and WOW. I reset the codes and took it for a spin. The first time i floored it it threw me back in my seat =D. My next step was gonna be to pay a...
Hey guys so about a month I wired up some driving lights (seperate from the fog lights) onto my front bumper. I wanted the lights to automatically come on whenever the high's come on. A buddy of mine did the wiring, but he used a relay and came right off of the high beam wire right behind the...
Oh, on another note (sorry for the double post) has anybody ran their truck up a steep mountain pass (about 15% grade)? How fast could you get up too? Trying to figure out if me only being able to about 55 is just a gearing thing because my Dodge would spank the pass at 75-80 without a problem...
Okay so thought I'd give everybody who's interested an update. Replaced the PCV boots on the passenger side of the motor. Somebody had installed them all funky so one of the boots had a gaping hole in it (I could stick a pen in it probably)... just went ahead and replace all three of the boots...
Ok so I think I found the vacuum leak. On the top of the passenger side valve cover back next to the firewall I believe is where the PCV valve is? it seems to be warn right there and if I wiggle it I can hear the whistling change to different pitches. Would this cause the engine to not want...
