dano, you might want to try the directions I posted on page 3. It involves using wd40 and spraying the controls. Worked for me and others and we didn't have to take the controls apart. Worth a try.
If I were you I would not report the accident to your insurance company. Sometimes it is better to eat small damages. A quick story follows:
My wife hit an abutment at the grocery store parking lot. She damaged the door and rocker and small area of the front bumper. The damage was $2200 and...
An Expedition with the tow package can take up to 600 lbs on the hitch. If you are only getting a popup the truck won't even know it's there. I tow a 5000 lb boat with no issues. You won't need a WDH.
I had a similar problem and a vacuum hose had come loose under the hood. You may have knocked one off when working on the system. Check this out you may solve the problem.
I have the same problem on my 2003 Expy EB. I had the passenger side fixed 2 years ago for $600. The drivers side is stating to go but it's not too bad yet. If you do repair it yourself please post updates of your progress. Good Luck.
I was reading your post and had to change the numbers to gallon and miles to make sense to me. I came up with the following"
3.5 motor 17 mpg - not towing
11.8 mpg - towing
6.0 motor 9.8 - not towing
7.1 - towing
It seem that the mileage you were getting on...
IT is great to see that the dealers are finally starting to discount the new expy. I'm not in the market yet but things are looking better for when I am.
I sprayed some WD40 around the button and worked it several times. I've had good luck with this in the past with cruise control and radio button on the steering wheel that stopped working.
After spending the amount of money it costs to buy these trucks, I can't see running them in heavy mud. When I was young we used to get what we called bush beaters. Cheap cars or trucks that you could beat the hell out of and didn't mind. Just my 2 cents worth.
I tow a 5000 lb boat and don't try to maintain 65 mph especially going up hills. I may start the hill at 65 but could be at 55 by the time I reach the top. I then pick up speed and run 65 to 70 until the next big hill. I think this is a normal part of towing and it's much easier on the truck.
I have a 2003 Expy EB and the external temp display in the display stopped working. It's not a big issue but wondered if anyone had ideas on how to get it working again. Thanks
I have dad good luck with WD40 on cruise control and other switches that were not working. Spray the control with a good amount of WD40 and then work them manually. Repeat this. You can wrap some rags around to avoid getting the spray all over. Let me know if it works.
